Finishing the season 9-7, after getting pounded by the Philadelphia Eagles, 44-6, left Dallas in a surly mood. These are the same Cowboys--actually, slightly improved Cowboys--who finished 2007 at 13-3 and entered the Playoffs as a #1 seed... (and we know what happened in their first playoff game).
Unless some changes are made, next season promises to be a repeat performance. Not my words, rather, the utterances of Dallas coach Wade Phillips.."We know things must improve. The only way is to change things" (Be careful what you wish for. Jerry Jones is desparate). Phillips may be the change that's made, although some might say QB Tony Romo, or T.O.?). Bill Cower, for Steelers coach, is still in the wings.
It's possible that the change might be one of 'attitude', a la Bill Parsells. Phillips might take a 'no more Mr. Nice Guy" approach, making HBO change its format showing the Cowboys' training camp.
Over the next few months we'll see the usual finger-pointing in the blame-game, and there's plenty to go around, NOT EXCLUDING OWNER JERRY JONES. Sometimes you can have too many stars. Often times that array of 'stars' can provide the ohhhs & ahhhs, but falls short on cohesiveness and teamwork.....way short.
