DeLaHoya (aka, boxing's "Golden Boy")threw in the proverbial 'towel', while sitting on the stool in his corner. He was bloody and battered--almost beyond recognition.

His opponent, smaller, but much faster, once again proved a boxing 'truism', i.e., speed and youth will usually overcome power. Although in this case, Pacquiao 's 'speed' created a little' power. He was created with "landing 225 power punches to the 83 "landed" by DeLaHoya.

Plus, age also proved to be a factor ( George Forman, excepted), as was admitted by DeLaHoya--and confirmed by his former Trainer, Freddie Roach.....to which De La Hoya agrees.

Having to come 'down' in weight was also a factor in the overall picture. The "Golden Boy" is no longer "Golden" among todays youthful fighters. Retire man....and stay 'retired'!:hmm:

LOL, you never touched your subject. I was hoping for at least one word about Mayweather. I saw the fight and hope Oscar is retired for good. He has too much to offer the game as a promoter.

I can tell you now, Floyd will return to fight the Pac Man for the biggest purse in boxing history. You can count on it.

pac man gave de la hoya one of his worst losses. The was just too fast for him, after every punch pacquiao hit, pacquiao was in a different spot right after. Floyd dont get anything on Pacquiao.

Actually, the statement was "rhetorical", and was meant as an attempt to open discussion. It was NOT my attempt to expound on the impressive skills of Floyd Mayweather,Jr. The young man is legend, 'pound for pound', etc.

However, I do agree with your many other good points.

I wouldn't mind seeing that fight, but as fast as Pac is, Floyd is faster. Pac surprised the hell out of me with his improved skills but he's still not Floyd. There isn't a figter in the game right now in my opinion, in any weight class from 140-154 that can beat Floyd, including Margarito and Cotto. And I AM NOT a Floyd fan, but it's the truth. But if he comes back ad is not at the top of his game like he left, then Pac has a very good chance of making Floyd look bad which could influence judges.

Truth be told, Pac is the true meaning of pound for pound champ right now, to start your career at 106lbs and travel all the way to welterweight to fight AND WHUP a big welter like Oscar is amazing. Much props to Pacman.

You know how I feel about this...Mayweather is just too good on defense to get beat by a guy like Pacquiao. On the other board one person discussed how Manny hates fighting slick boxers (ex. Marquez) and has trouble adjusting to them, so Floyd would just do the usual...Feel him out for a few rounds then adjust his game to beat Manny...

Many underestimate the amount of preparation that Floyd does for a fight. I don't know any boxer out there in any division that trained like he did...It was in his blood.
