That fool didn't resign on his on merit. His chief sat him down and said "muthafucka the department is taking a lot of heat on this shit and you need to make it right". He was forced out.

He didn't make a mistake. His demeanor was unbecoming of an officer.

Foolish statement. It was deep. It was an officer that was CLEARLY in the wrong even when a nurse told him the story was true. The man ignored the circumstances even when A FELLOW OFFICER told him that he should let the man go.

When the police chief says to the media that he's washed his hands of the guy its pretty much done for his career.

Perhaps..but a resignable or firable offense it was not
it was a prime exampe of some former highschool loser trying to abuse his power, the asshole even pulled his gun on a unarmed man who did not show any type of threat and said his mother was dieing. being a cop is a job its no diffrent than working at burger king, you dont have to kiss their ass or give them no respect.

Actually it was. If you watch that tape you can see the officer threaten, harass, and belittle a tax paying citizen. He also ignored proper procedure by acting as if this was a dangerous confrontation but not treating it as such by calling for back up or detaining those who fled. He then ignored instructions and advice of hospital personnel and a fellow law officer during the stop. This was a clear case of misuse AND abuse of his police powers. He was also incompetent and unprofessional. This was indeed a fireable offense.

Add to that the looming charges from Zach Thomas' family and the inevitable countless amount of other citizens which are/were sure to come forth on this guy from other citizens and this was a no brainer. He had to go.

It sure was. He has a character flaw and should not be a police officer. Part of his job is to serve the public. I am sure this was not his first such incident. Btw did you know that you can be put in jail for cursing at an officer? Do think that's right?

I was happy to hear that. At some point in life it's no longer just a job and you have to become human. He should've showed some compassion once he explained his reasons for running the red light. Shit if the man said he was rushing to see the birth of a child the cop should understand as long as he wasn't blatantly reckless.

"As stated in another thread....

I was at another LE related BB today and a verified Dallas Police Officer stated that the real reason their Chief went nuts about all this is because after the stop is over....Powell is on his dash cam talking trash about the Chief, the Admin, and the Dept. to other Officers.....for about 6 mins or so before he turns it off and goes back into service.....

Opps......"

Funny, but at the same time sad, to think that Powell could have possibly been allowed to stick around had he not been mouthing off. :smh:

If it hadnt got out to the public then he probably would have never had to resign or anything. Cops do dumb shit like that all the time and it is ignored for the most part. Or in the case of alot of black people, we have gotten so used to it that we dont bother to complain cuz it has done us no good in the past.
