This comes up alot and I figured I would share some info that I had. Now I haven't taken the time to draft it like a manual;however, these are some pretty inclusive notes that I had saved in my gmail account that I've pasted together. I had good credit to begin with but I've used some techniques to get over a 100 point increase in a short amount of time. I've also used the techniques to not only get a Dun and Bradstreet number in 24 hours without the headache..I've gotten a PAYDEX number in only two months which is really fast. That has allowed me to get alot of business credit for the new software company I am working on. I won't state numbers, but I have alot of credit possibilities.

What I will post below should at least give you some insight. For everything else go to www.creditboards.com. Also, don't think because you have legitimate derogatory claims on your report that you can't get them off. You can. There are numerous ways of legally getting derogatory remarks removed. It's really all about knowing the system. Just the type of paper that you use makes a difference. For instance, because of all these pay for deletion credit improvement companies that send generic letter...the CB's just take all the mail and run is through a scanner that automates the processes and responses. However, if you write in yellow legal pads with lines in it and with blue ink..the scanner can't read it and a human has to read it..which increases your chance of getting a person to read your complaint. Those little tibits make a difference. It takes some time with writing letters, but it is worth it. Honestly, if you can't take an hour a week to put towards this you can't complain about your situation then. I stress read everything you can in the personal credit section at www.creditboards.com

Read below. I will answer some questions in this thread if you need some assistance. But don't swamp me..just go to www.creditboards.com and read the "pinned threads" in the personal credit section. There have been some people who have gotten 200 point increases in 5 months and posted copies of their reports with the letters that they wrote to prove it. This is very legitimate and can really open up some opportunities for you...especially if you plan to open a business soon.

The following is cut and pasted from my email records but generally it is pretty much in decent linear order

Order copies of your credit reports from the three agencies

The MOST important thing is to dispute at least THREE elements of the account you wish deleted or corrected.

1) Save a copy of everything. Every credit report, every letter you send, every response you get. Did EX update something one way in August and another way in September? If you can prove it, you have them. I would also suggest that EVERYTHING be sent certified mail return receipt requested with the following stated in your correspondence

SENT CERTIFIED MAIL RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED NO.

2) Don't dispute important things on-line or by phone unless it is clear-cut. You want a record of your dispute and you want their response in writing. Don't accept dispute results on-line from EXP.

3) If you give the CRAs enough rope, they will hang themself. Be meticulous and methodical and you will catch them on provable violations.

4) Don't underestimate the value of disputing directly with the OC, like the CROs do. At least a third of my deletions have come from disputing directly with creditors. Nutcase letters do work.

5) Equifax will not provide verification procedures. Keep a good record and they will violate every time.

6) Experian will send you 'was previously verified' letters out the wazoo. The letters do not meet the requirements of 611 (a) (3). Each one is a violation. Their verification procedure statements (if they send them) are easily attackable as well. Experian will frequently allow disputes to go over 30 days or release the results and then change them afterward. Keep good records and use CMRR.

7) TransUnion will send you a CRO letter even if you tell them you're not using a CRO. Each one is a violation.

8) Equifax tries to do a good job; Experian doesn't give a shit. TransUnion is just plain incompetent.

9) None of the CRAs follow the requirements of 611 (a) (5) (cool.gif for re-insertion of deleted material. Keep a watch and you will catch them.

10) CRAs don't care about your side of it, and they don't care what evidence you have. Unless the OC says it, it's worthless. This is a clear violation of 611 (a) (4), but they'll risk the suits to keep their customers happy. The OCs PAY the CRAs to report the information. They are more worried about offending their customers than they are about getting sued by a consumer.

11) OC's don't want to be involved in your suits against the CRAs. If you file suit against the CRAs and start sending subpoenas to the OCs to get their records of the disputes, things will start disappearing in a hurry.

12) Impatience can make you reckless. Take the time. Consider every comment you make to a CRA.

13) There's no need to spend more than 6 months disputing things with the CRAs, unless you're trying to catch them on violations. After two to four rounds, you're going to get stonewalled, expecially by TU and EFX. If they don't fix it after a few months, you're going to need to litigate. Don't threaten to sue unless you're ready to strap on a stainless steel cup and go into battle.

13) OCs will almost never validate. If you ask for proof the account is yours, they will almost never provide it. They don't want to be liable for sending you wrong information or someone else's information. Find a person at an OC to target. An individual will likely delete the listing to make you go away.

14) CMRR sent priority costs $7.90 each.

5)WHILE WAITING FOR THE NEW REPORTS TO COME BACK READ ABOUT DISPUTING INACCURATE INFORMATION AS "NOT MINE"
6)NOW THAT YOU HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING ABOUT DISPUTING AND YOU NOW HAVE YOUR NEW REPORTS. ITS TIME TO START DISPUTING. DISPUTE LETTERS CAN BE AS SIMPLE AS"THIS IS NOT MY ACCOUNT. PLEASE DELETE"

7)WAIT 30+5 MORE DAYS AND READ ABOUT DISPUTE VALIDATION WITH COLLECTION AGENCIES AND THE 1-2 PUNCH AND ABOUT STATUTES OF LIMITATIONS WHILE YOU ARE WAITING.

8)ONCE YOU GET TO THIS POINT AND UNDERSTAND THE 1-2 PUNCH YOU SHOULD START READING THE FDCPA AND FCRA. YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!!

9)IF YOU HAVE UNPAID COLLECTIONS THAT ARE WITHIN THE "SOL" DO NOT WAKE UP SLEEPING DOGS THAT YOU ARE NOT READY TO DEAL WITH BECAUSE THEY MAY SUE.

10)TIME TO DO THE 1-2 PUNCH AND SEE HOW MANY VIOLATIONS YOU CAN RACK UP. CONTINUE THIS PROCESS UNTILL YOU HAVE A SOLID PAPER TRAIL(COPIES OF EVERY LETTER SENT WITH DATES AND YOUR GREEN CARD FROM YOUR CERTIFIED MAIL RETURN RECIEPT REQUESTED)ALL LETTERS SHOULD BE SENT CMRRR.

Record Keeping:

• Everything in the file-cabinet...

• Each CRA has their own file-hanger

• Each CA/OC/Whatever get's their own folder

• All CMRRR's/receipts/green cards are stapled and placed in respective folders

• I have a calendar printed out and marked with important dates to send/receive things

• EVERYTHING gets scanned as a JPEG image and/or PDF file. EVERYTHING!

• Got my stapler, my "COPY" stamp, my FCRA/FDCPA rules, hole-punch, highlighter and shredder all set out on the desk next to me.

• Made custom WORD templates for CMRRR cards/receipts, bought a cheap-o laser printer...

• If anything is settled or closed, I put a red piece of tape over the top of the file, mark it as RESOLVED, and place it in a box in the closet. If I need to refer to something in teh file, it's already scanned

Elan Bank Business Visa 800-558-3424

I believe it's based on personal scores. I have 12 tls on Exp and 6 on DNB reporting.

2.Wright Express:

I applied last week for their gas card. Stated I would be doing $3,000 monthly. Their rep called me today telling me I was approved for $9,000. She told me they take your monthly volume you state on the application and multiply that by 3 for your limit. I will have my cards next week. She even gave me my account number over the phone.

3.Amex Corporate Card:
Fico score of 700

4.First Horizon:

Very liberal
Fico score of 680

Notes:

I got approved for $50k LOC. S-Corp, 2 years in business, excellent personal debt ratios. The only problem is that my rate is Prime + 3%! They said after 6 months they can reevaluate that. It's still fairly cheap unsecured credit, so I am taking it.

Several important points when comparing First Horizon to American Express LOC, which I also have:

Amex started me out @ $10k and Prime + 3% with $99 annual fee due to Costo Executive Membership. First Horizon gave me $50k at the same rate but their annual fee is only $50. Another important feature of First Horizon is that payments are INTEREST-ONLY - Amex payments amount to almost 3% of the outstanding balance on $10k draw.

good info, i'm sure this will help a lot

Re: Credit: Improving your score + huge lines of credit

Here's a question, if you can't answer it maybe someone else can. My credit score is low 600's. Not bad considering I've been in school and just started a full time job. Now, I have one credit card that was near it's limit and I'm trying to get it down. I don't use the card (haven't in 2 years). I just noticed today that the credit card company increased my credit limit by like $3k. Now, should I ask the company to lower the credit limit back down or does it look better to have the higher limit, since the balance is no longer near the limit?

Thanks homie well appreciated, I might consider those debt validation and verification methods before I try to settle anything with them, great info...

Re: Credit: Improving your score + huge lines of credit

I decided to post on here in case someone has some more advice to give.....

I've got 2 debts from back in my freshman yr in college (1998)that have since "resurfaced" I called the OC now in '05 to see if they'd negotiate it with me and settle for less since they involved a collection agency (CA) after my call and the CA is trying to get a partial pmt for the debts... I stupidly made pmts on debt1 in '02 and bebt2 in '03 b/c I kept receiving harrassing calls from a collection agency back then (which I know now was a violation, yet i've no way of proving it) so I think that brought it upto date. I'm sure it's still within the SOL so having it removed on that merit is gone (not sure). Besides paying what's the best possible method to dispute this. I've been setting up a gameplan through Creditboards but figured input from someone who's gone through it would be best. Thanks in advance...

Re: Credit: Improving your score + huge lines of credit

another tidbit to add to building business credit

alltel wireless will automatically approve a new tax id number for 1 line of service.
get it and pay it on time because they do report and for some reason cell phone companies get you higher points on your cred report.

Question for the fam... i've been working on my credit and its gotten up there in the past few months but I've been trying to get credit to get a laptop from the various websites to establish credit with them (i.e. HP/COMPAQ, Gateway, Dell) and I've been catching it cause Equifax has been fuggin me up.. can I get some advice on this matter.

personal credit question

I ordered my credit report a month back and sent in some stuff i disputed. they fixed one thing and notified me once of my debts was closed by original creditor request but it still shows up as negative on my report. can i ask them to delete that one also since the original creditor seems not to want payment anymore?

also i have one debt left but 2 different collection agencies r claiming it so it is showing up twice with same account number same amount but with 2 different agencies. all the reporting company did was update but not remove one of the agencies.

how can i resolve this b/c this debt is invalid anyway b/c it was a compusa card from 2000 in which i had 6months no payment but they charged me right away. the limit was 1200 but the report says the original limit was like 1545. they violated the terms of their agreement and i never reached the limit only spent bout 300 b4 i disputed it with the company then they gave it to collections.

i'm this close to not having anything on my credit anymore that will hurt me and i have my 6month student loan payments due 6 months from january when i graduate and only want to worry about those not stupid inaccuarate credit cards.

any advice?

the senator....

sup... did ya get a rejection letter... if so use that rejection letter to get a copy of your most recent credit report ~ but beware doing so will wake up the sleeping giants bka as the collectors....also do you know what your FICO score is??

one you get a copy of your credit report ( it best to get one from all 3 at the same time so you can see firsthand any errors or bs that shouldnt be on there) if ya see any bs on it.. dispute it.....and start a paper trail so you have proof

this is fixable and disuptable.. but i am unsure how you would go about fixing it.. my best advice to you is to check out www.creditboards.com and post this question....

Question: I have a very old account from 8 years ago that just recently popped back up. I'm not stupid enough to try to strike a deal with them cuz I always thought that after 7 years they're screwed.

What I need to know is how to get these mofo's off my azz for this old account.

Send them a Drop deap letter as it seem the SOL has passed goto creditboards.com and sign up and search for a Cease and Desist letter and send it to them crrr.

looks better to have the higher limit. Don't go over 70% of your avail credit, that is if your limit is now $3k, don't ever spend more than $2100. Also make sure your credit card company is reporting your new limit to the credit bureaus ASAP.

I've got a question...

I had a car back in the late 90's. In 1998 a brotha was goin' thru some financial hardships and it got repo'd. Fast forward to now 9 years later and the car company is just now comin' after me.

I'm thinkin' I should just ignore them for a while and they'll go away. They started sending letters about 6 months ago. I checked my credit and it's not showing on there. They've since turned it over to a CA.

With that said, should I ignore it or try to cut them off at the pass and send them the 30 day notice letter?
