John Perkins started and stopped writing Confessions of an Economic Hit Man four times over 20 years. He says he was threatened and bribed in an effort to kill the project, but after 9/11 he finally decided to go through with this expose of his former professional life. Perkins, a former chief economist at Boston strategic-consulting firm Chas. T. Main, says he was an "economic hit man" for 10 years, helping U.S. intelligence agencies and multinationals cajole and blackmail foreign leaders into serving U.S. foreign policy and awarding lucrative contracts to American business. "Economic hit men (EHMs) are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars," Perkins writes. Confessions of an Economic Hit Man is an extraordinary and gripping tale of intrigue and dark machinations. Think John Le Carré, except it's a true story.

Perkins writes that his economic projections cooked the books Enron-style to convince foreign governments to accept billions of dollars of loans from the World Bank and other institutions to build dams, airports, electric grids, and other infrastructure he knew they couldn't afford. The loans were given on condition that construction and engineering contracts went to U.S. companies. Often, the money would simply be transferred from one bank account in Washington, D.C., to another one in New York or San Francisco. The deals were smoothed over with bribes for foreign officials, but it was the taxpayers in the foreign countries who had to pay back the loans. When their governments couldn't do so, as was often the case, the U.S. or its henchmen at the World Bank or International Monetary Fund would step in and essentially place the country in trusteeship, dictating everything from its spending budget to security agreements and even its United Nations votes. It was, Perkins writes, a clever way for the U.S. to expand its "empire" at the expense of Third World citizens. While at times he seems a little overly focused on conspiracies, perhaps that's not surprising considering the life he's led.

This sounds interesting but I'm looking for someone with the courage to write something that "makes it plain".

A 10 page book, sans all the "conspiracies" that just says John paid 'x' to have Dave do 'y'. Period.

Who did it. When they did it. THE HARD EVIDENCE IT HAPPENED. Fuck why.

We can figure that out ourselves.

Lays bare how the U.S. functions around the world. Even when the media talks about "trade talks", "Global economy" etc all code words for violence.

"It has been said that social occasions are only warfare concealed."

peace
Read & heard about how Jamaica was done dirty by those bank loans and the IMF to the point where some food from down there aint even FROM down there any more - they have to import due to the restrictions of the policy
Some of the shit discussed in the intro alludes to more of the same
Good Drop
Will check it out

peace

This is off the chains! It's not about a "conspiracy". This man gives the insight into a lot of assasinations, relations with foreign governments and modern-day imperialism.

If you haven't read it, give it a try.....

Simple: Go to a third world country and convince someone, through trickery or bribes as to how building a billion dollars worth of hydro electric plants will immediately bring them into the modern era.

You know this isn't true, but you manipulate data to show the world bank that they should make the loan to the third world country, because with the hydro electric plant, their economy will improve to the extent that they will be able to pay back the loan. The world bank makes the loan.

In comes a big American engineering/construction company to build the billion dollar project, i.e. Halliburton, for electricity that will go no where because the houses and business aren't set up to use it.

So of course the economy doesn't significantly improve and the third world country can't make the note. Don't worry though, because we are a kind, humanitarian oriented business. You have oil resources don't you? Well, just let my friend's company, EXXON come in and exploit the resource to the tune of one billion dollars, plus interest of course, and you can pay me back that way.

Props on the vids.. True Knowledge right here.. talks on the shit that is known by few, but not seen, talked about, or understood.!
Props on the Book 2.. Good Read.!

Good post. I liked how at the end of the interview he referred back to the indigenous cultures prophecies. All the interviewer could say then was thank you very much.:D:yes:

Most people won't take the time to listen to the full interviews, let alone, read a book. This info is out there for everyone. You just won't hear the mainstream media making you aware of this madness. You also won't see lesser folks search for it either.

My highlights were the Saudi connection and how indigenous people can easily be put on the "terrorist list" for defending thier own natural resources - imagine that!?!? They can be subject to all types of extermination tactics to rape them of what is naturally theirs. It's a shame.

Sounds like a declaration of/ for War to me..!!:hmm:
Said it B4, I'll say it again- "Whitey's got 2 go, hey hey, Ho, Ho"

I understand all the "framework".

It's just my hope that a definitive and unwavering finger on one hand can be pointed to a specific person while the other hand hold definitive and uncontestable proof in the air for people to see.

I'm talking about explained WITHOUT words and phrases such as "perhaps", "might", "almost", "we believe" and "they could've". I want to hear/read "he did", "they did", "we know", etc.

I'm talking indictments and accusations that are as clear and sharp as what was dropped concerning Mike Vick. We know what he did, when he did it, where he did it and what the affect was.

If folks want change, they've got to make it easy for the masses to accept what they're saying. Remember: That's how the 'powers that be' do it.

This is a good post. I'm gonna check out the interview and get the book.
Do you notice the common theme in imperialism and capitalism...keep the country (or the individual) in DEBT! That's how these systems work.

Have you listened to the clips yet? He say's how Saudia Arabia was established and why we turn a blind eye to their activities. He says we, the US, tried to assasinate Saddam and he could still be alive today if he played ball with us. He sheds light on numerous topics and he IS NOT VAGUE with it either. If you don't like the clips you probably won't like the book.

COSIGN! Isn't this the case with the Dominican Republic having Brazil construct that hydro electric dam, knowing damn well that's not going to fix the country's electricity probs. (Funding provided by the WB)

Signing CAFTA was a bad move too.. The Deficit is increasing over there and goods once manufactured by the country are being replaced by imports.
