I'm about to open up shop (small) and was wondering if anyone in the computer repair business have any experience using PC-Doctor diagnostic Products?

This might be something I get to make my job easier when it comes to diagnosing specific hardware problems. There's a similar product from Ultra-X, Inc, but their kit costs $2000. The P.O.S.T. card alone is $1000

Just wanted some feedback from those already in the business or have some experiences with either of these products or variations thereof.

I would shoot Da Don a PM... he's in the business... Good luck with the business.

Looks like some of the kits you've linked to only does desktop diagnosis. It's been a while since desktops outsold laptops and with parity between the two, the gap will widen. I hope you future-proof your business by buying tools you can use on both systems. I'll take a guess that desktops for non-gamers (which will be 95% of all consumers) will virtually disappear in the next decade.

So, I don't believe you will get your ROI on a $2K desktop tool. Also, don't forget about Macs. As they are making a comeback.

I was speaking with the Product manager who pretty much hit every bullet point on their products. He pretty much said the same thing about the over abundance of laptops as opposed to Desktops. I've actually been repairing more laptops lately than desktops so that is something I definitely want make sure I have the tools in my arsenal. As far as MACS, I've been looking into becoming a certified tech. With Macs using proprietary parts it makes it a little more difficult and expensive when it comes to replacing said parts.

most of that stuff you can get on your own for a fraction of the price...

checkout microcenter.com or even tigerdirect.com
