My take is that Chavez’s allegations are true. Remember how the US was baiting Saddam back in 1999 during the “No Fly Zones?”

Colombia has denied spying on Venezuela using an unmanned drone aircraft built with US technology.

The allegation was made on Sunday by the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez.

He claimed the drone aircraft flew over a Venezuelan military base "a few days ago" and took a number of photographs, before disappearing.

But the Colombian defence minister said his country had no access to drones - and joked that perhaps Venezuelan soldiers saw Santa's sleigh instead.

In his weekly television and radio programme, President Chavez said he had ordered any planes to be shot down.

The two countries have been involved in a diplomatic row over Colombia's decision to grant the US access to its military bases.

At the weekend, the Colombian government announced it is building a new military base on its border with Venezuela and has activated six new airborne battalions.

They could use a spy satellites to take pictures of the military base in Venezuela. If there was a spy drone, it was a st8 up intimidation tactic, let Hugo know he could be scope out at any time.

What is the purpose of putting military opersations in Columbia? Will this lead to another 9/11 from people being pissed off about US military presence in their country...The risk doesn't justify any reward.

(I haven't seen any president verbalize this fact in any speech when discussing the reason for being attacked - proof of propaganda being used)

no surprise that there are some drone missions being run. Colombia is basically an offshore US military installation now, like Israel.
