What's up fam. I was on here earlier asking what type of jobs that I could look for with a Bachelor's in Communication/Media Studies. Well, it's been a month since I graduated..... ......but I'm still job hunting :( . Can anyone recommend the best site to search for jobs? (Even though I have resumes on just about all of them) Or a good company to apply with? Or maybe some of you local ATLiens may have businesses and may be looking for good help? I appreciate the read.....

Fam...I feel your pain. I graduated a couple of months after 9/11 and shit was rough up here in NY. But my best advice woould be to apply for all positions and all companies that you may interest in. You may find that what you are interested in something that has nothing to do with your degree...and there's nothing wrong with that. Shit...put on a suit and take a trip to the business district of ATL. Visit some of the companies that you have interest in. The worst someone can say is No. But give them your resume anyway. Keep following up with their HR department. Be persistant. Lastly...don't be afraid to take an entry-level position. Your degree will get you in the door, but your performance will help you excel. I started at the bottom of my department...and made some serious vertical moves in 3 years. My salary has more than doubled. Good luck with your search.

Let me help you cats out. Here is a problem I see all the time with young black grads looking for jobs. You guys need to start checking out different business magazines showing the cities with job growth and move there. Atlanta is horrible if you are looking for a job. Look in other states. I saw an article a while back about cities with the fast job growth. I would advise you cats to apply in other cities with job growth. Atlanta is too saturated with young black grads looking for jobs. Consider moving.

To echo what Bruha said, look into "entry-level position"

You can also type "college grad" in the keyword you are looking for a job. Have a cover letter ready.

Don't be afraid to go to an interview for a job you're not sure of. At least build your interview skills. You, as any company will, can always say, "I am currently pursuing other options."

It won't be easy but don't despair. If you put out at least 1-2 resume a day, you should have at least 1-2 interviews the next week or two.

Don't give up!

I feel you on that one but the problem where I'm stuck is that I have a child here and a sick grandmother that needs me, so like I said...I'm ATL bound.

ATL is not a problem from a job perspective... plenty of work down here, but the degree will probably be a problem depending on your skills. If you let me know what your skillset is I may be able to steer you in the right direction down here.

You are right. There are jobs, but the pay scale is crappy here.

You serious??? Been pretty good... again depends on skills and if you know how much you're really work - I help a lot of folks wit that... they're stuck in a job not getting paid, then I sit them down and go through their skills... put them into a good resume, give em a few pointers and they're off! Some of these cats nearly doubled their salary.
