Nope. Not this guy ...
... this guy
The racist bigotry of this CAC can easily be surmised from his writings and really isn't up for debate.
But, to indulge the skeptics, refer to "The Racism of Charles Darwin" by Ryan Thoryk
(Ref: http://ministries.tliquest.net/theology/evolution/Darwin's Racism.html)
A rather comprehensive compendium ot Darwin's quotes and the analysis and dissection of the implicit and explicit racism embedded in his Evolution Theory.
Much like many of his contemporary anti-slavery "apologists", he was often touted as an abolitionist (a guilt driven CAC who feels uneasy about the theoretical notion of slavery) by historical revisionist.
Formica Sanguinea (The "slavemaker ant")
a.k.a, "The CAC ant"
Profile:
They're opportunistic manipulative predatory ant species renowned for taking advantage of any situation and consume almost anything it can.
They don't build their own nests, rather they invade the nests of other ant species.
They achieve this by strategically carrying out a series of surveillance operations to scope out the terrain, leave pheromone scent trails, then stake out the victims nest.
Subsequently, the queen fakes death in the vicinity of the nest, the other ants discover the queen, drag her into the nest to feed to their queen.
Then the bitch wakes up unexpectedly and fucks up the other ants queen after which a concerted "shock-and-awe" military operation ensues as the victim ants are captured and enslaved.
The captive ants are then forced to cater to the needs of their new imperialist masters and kept in check through biochemical coercion.
In an alternate strategy, the CAC ants invade a nest, steal the supply of cocoons, take them back to their nest to hatch upon which they emerge and consider the "surrogate" queen their own and serve her and brood forever.
Sounds familiar?
Anyway, Darwin was both shocked and delighted to witness these "rare slave-making ants" and in a letter to his good friend and colleague J. D. Hooker, he wrote:
P.S. "I had such a piece of luck at Moor Park: I found the rare Slave-making Ant, & saw the little black ******* in their Master's nests."
(Ref: http://www.darwinproject.ac.uk/darwinletters/calendar/entry-2269.html)
He refers to the slave-making ant, Formica sanguinea, and its slave, F. nigra.
F. nigra ...
I'm aware that nigra is an inflected form of the Latin for black, niger ... and I'm also sure that was the context in which he was using it ...
