They are the most desired but the popularity of wings is irrational. Three wings can cost more than a big juicy breast or a nice meaty thigh. It seems snobbish to reject those better values and clearly superior sustenance for, what, a better fried exterior to meat ratio? I don't see the possible appeal beyond that.
It isn't irrational depending on what you like. Breast aren't juicy. The middle of a fried breast can be quite dry. Thighs are full of veins and tendons and can be unappealing beyond the first bite. Wings make the perfect chicken finger food. White meat, so not full of unsightly veins, yet juicy and easy to handle. Makes perfect sense to be "watch tv" type food.
These are the same people that took a junk fish and called it "sea bass", so they could charge 12.99/lb for it.
It's actually cod. Patagonian to be exact, and NOT worth 16.99/lb. It's basically a fleshy junk fish.
Patagonian Toothfish to be more exact. I wouldn't exactly call it a junk fish. The flesh is unique in taste, not full of bones and flavorful. There are plenty of junk fish that you won't want to eat twice...true junk.
