Alsip, IL – Prosecutors on Thursday charged three gravediggers and a manager
in an elaborate scheme in which hundreds of corpses were dug up at a historic
black cemetery, near Chicago. Prosecutors said 200 to 300 bodies were dug up
and dumped in an isolated, weedy area of a cemetery at which many prominent
African-Americans are buried, including civil rights icon Emmett Till. Exposed bones,
chunks of concrete and broken coffins litter the hilly, overgrown area about four blocks long.

The suspects were identified as Carolyn Towns, 49, Terrence Nicks, 39
Keith Nicks, 45 all of Chicago — and Maurice Dailey, 61, of Robbins, IL

Broken. Rusted. Battered. The image of a glass-covered casket of
Emmett Till was rusting in the back of a shack at Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip,
a suburb of Chicago. The casket was surrounded by garbage and discarded headstones
strewn about like litter. "When we opened it up, a family of possums ran out,"
said Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart.

In June 2005, Till's body was exhumed during an investigation of his death.

The original casket was supposed to be part of a planned memorial for Emmett Till at
Burr Oak Cemetery, but the donations for that memorial were allegedly pocketed by Carolyn Towns
the cemetery's manager and the woman who has been charged in this ghoulish scheme.

Damn. Just, damn.

Somebody will probably testify at their sentencing saying what good citizens, they were.

This is sick and demented as it gets
I hope they all get whats coming to them
in prison and in the afterlife. My brothers
wife, my wife's infant nephew and my grandmother
are all buried at Burr Oak
