Chavez: "If the climate was a bank [the U.S.] would already have saved it."

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was supposed to talk for, oh, five minutes in Copenhagen and he's approaching the half-hour mark right about now -- kind of like the Energizer Despot.

The highlights:

On the protesters getting tear-gassed outside the Bella center: "I think we need to say hello to all the people out there, most of them young."

On the competitive advantages of socialism: "There is a ghost running through the streets of Copenhagen... [A] terrible ghost... Capitalism is that ghost."

On bank bailouts vs. climate change bills: "The United States can produce dollars, just print them, and they think they've saved their banks and the capitalist system... If the climate was a bank they would already have saved it."

Hugo has a point, materialism is dying theres more to life than money. He doesn't offer an alternative though what he's basically saying is trust me, fidel, putin because we know whats best for you. Capitalism needs reforming, we need to take our country back, but it still beats the hell out of their form of socialism.

Why are the ice caps in the south pole growing.

Does Global warming mean that the Globe is only warming in certain sections?

How so?

If Venezuela is a major oil exporter and the climate treaty would involve oil be phased out or be used less, how would 'he' benefit? By the same token, the multinational oil corporations have spent multi millions of dollars lobbying against global warming and the climate treaties. How do you reconcile your apparent contradiction?

Why is it for the first time since records began that there is a fully clear ice free water passage from Europe to Asia?

Why is it that glaciers, worldwide are receding at record rates?

Why is it that the world's deserts are expanding?


The world's corporations and capitalists have a greater stake in denying global warming than any one. Americans, in particular "Black" Americans are most likely, not to walk, not to ride bicycles to drive older large and or less fuel efficient cars, eat foods that require large expenditures of fossil fuels to bring to market and be over weight. Putting this on the "whites" is to deny that "we" are just too damn selfish to change our lifestyle and are contributing to the problem!

You mistake weather for climate. Just because it is cold or hot at one or several locations over and brief period of time doesn’t mean that the aggregate temperature of the globe is not rising. Examine the trends, the evidence is unmistakable. Whether global warming is a fact or not, shouldn’t we at least prepare for the worst case? Since 1953 we have spent trillions in the event that capitalism and communism would clash in to a dooms day scenario. Isn’t the catastrophic change of our very environment worth at least some preparation?

maybe Chavez does have some good intent with his personal fight against global warming....or maybe he doesnt...who knows.

I dont think the "hunger for Oil money" is the motivating force behind all this global warming BS. What is? i honestly dont know. But from what im reading and hearing i know for a fact that everything boils down to money.

According to what Chavez said at the conference.....he doesnt seem too be a big fan of Obama and his Admin like he was in the past. Maybe Chavez's role in all of this wil be him and his people getting financially raped....in the name of global warming. once again....i dont know

As far as them spending trillions in the past trying to prevent the "inevitable". well...i equate that to the millions/billions that they spend on the war on drugs. they know the war really doesnt exist. but to keep the elites pockets fat, the prison business prospering, other people fighting/killing one another and to please the millions of ill informed people in America...they'll just go along with it. in the process mismanaging OUR money, while demanding more.


why arent any of them seriously discussing our natural heating source, the Sun, when they discuss Global warming? Ive heard plenty of scientist, on the radio and TV, mention that over time, the Earth naturally goes through these hot and cold spells. but when i listen to the people thats tryna push forth their money making Global warming agendas...all i hear is Fossil fuels, deadly CO2, taxes...blah blah blah
