Eh, @ Questlove

Elvis died in 1977 BEFORE CNN EXISTED. BEFORE the internet and BEFOE cable TV.

If Elvis died today, he'd get the "Anna Nicole Smith/Britney Spears" treatment and we'd know every detail about his sex life too.

I hate when folks take shit outta context.

Damn, I know the man was great, but no need to bullshit everybody.

I KINDA GOT HIS POINT....

i think he meant media on a whole maybe back then
showed elvis love...(the 3 or 4 tv channels they had + radio)

n that these dick suckers at CNN is focusing on only negative shit about mike...

but i could be wrong....

They are NOT only focusing on the negative. I've watched CNN damn near non-stop since the man died.

They've talked about ALL of it. His fans just want to talk about the good shit and not talk about any of the bad shit, but you can't do that.

They've had Quincy Jones, Liza Minelli, Marlon Brando's son, Usher, and a ton of other celebrities to talk about how great it was to work with the guy.

His fans need to get over it. He lived a crazy ass life. It's gonna be talked about.

Hate to break the news to you but Elvis got LOTS of negative press when he died. (And this was before 24/7 news and the internet). Like Jackson, he was a big tabloid story in the weeks and months before his death, for his eccentricities, reported drug-taking and weight gain. When he died, the book by his entourage about his drug use was still FRESH off the presses, so it tied right in. That shit was talked about a lot. But as with Michael, MOST of the public just wanted to remember the good stuff.

Anyone who doesn't think Jackson's last 20 years of craziness isn't worth MENTIONING by NEWS people is an idiot. It's all part of the story, and the eccentric (and possibly criminal) part was the MOST important story in his life in recent years, not music.
