The agency is looking for up to 210 more donors to provide Zika-infected semen.

“I’m happy to say patients really have been receptive about volunteering their specimen,” Dr. Paul Mead, a senior epidemiologist at the CDC told the network. “They seem to understand the importance of the study.”
As of Tuesday, there have been 14 recorded cases of Zika spreading through sexual contact, the CDC reported.
At least 324 cases of the virus were discovered in New York, with statistics showing that 5% of residents in the city have Zika — the majority of which from travel abroad.
At least three babies born in the U.S. had birth defects related to the Zika virus.

While there is a major fear of Zika spreading through the Olympic Games in Brazil this summer,the CDC pointed out it will not be a major risk in the country.

The agency is doing a separate study in Puerto Rico to examine the semen of men who had Zika but didn’t suffer from any of its symptoms — fever, rash and itchy eyes.
At leastthree babies born in the U.S. from mothers infected with the Zika virushad birth defects linked to the disease.
