Guess its time to invest in a dynamic IP address any suggestions BGOL

They get people seeding more often than downloading, that's why I don't seed. I know I should give back, but shiiiiit I'm not going to jail for nobody!

i think thats because its not the taking of copyrighted material that get you into trouble, its the sharing of it.

Disregard that notice, and you'll either get a bill in the mail, or a knock on the door. Either way it will not end well.

use PG and upload nominally. I set an upload max of 25/kbps and only seed for the duration of my download. torrents are the shit, i'm neva givin' em up!

He's right. The Digital Millenium Copyright Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030) http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/1030.html
spells it out. Basically they can threaten you and even take you to court for downloading AND seeding (or any other form of "distribution").

However case law shows that Judges will likely throw the case out if you've only downloaded material. But, if they can prove that you distributed downloaded or illegally obtained material in anyway, your ass is in the sling. This is why torrents are risky because they force you to download and distribute simultaneously. As long as you are ONLY downloading or distributing in a virtually undetectable manner, you will most likely be alright.

Demonoid (private trackers)

private trackers give a false sense of security. an ip is still needed
to share. often registration is required. leading to an email, leading
to other ways to track the users.

I'ma put you up on some game and I hope you take this seriously.

1.) Wipe Your Hard Drive
Erase all the contents on your computer using a program called WipeDrive. This is the only true way to make sure that any data on your computer is unrecoverable if authorities happen to kick down your door. When you wipe it make sure you do 7 or more passes in order to fully clean your hard drive. This will take about 24-48 hours but it is necessary.

2.) Invest in a Hardware Encryption Device.
Software encryption applications are great but none add the security that hardware encryption provides. One I particularly like and is not able to be decrypted by the CIA, FBI, ICE, and etc. is Discrypt by Digisafe. It goes inbetween your motherboard and hard drive and makes sure that your information is encryption 100% of the time. If even a byte is shifted on your HD it will crash and the HD will be dead. This piece is password protected before boot up and can support two factor authentication.

3.) Discard any Media in Your House
Get rid of any CDs in your place that contain illegal applications, music, or additional multimedia asap. Never keep your information on media because a mistake most make is they go through all the steps to protect their machine but leave all the incriminating evidence on CDs right next to the PC. So you end up getting busted for distribution which is much worse than just possession.

4.) Stop downloading illegal shit.

I appreciate the advice homie but DAMN!!!!

&

How is this sposed to stop the situation from progressing any further???

IF I hypothetically have a whole folder of hypothetical illegal hypothetical content and they hypothetically pin point one hypothetical file isnt that enough hypothetical info to try and hypothetically convict me... they hypothetically have it on a hypothetical record

HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING OF COURSE... not tryna convict myself (ANYMORE THAN I ALREADY MAY HAVE)

Yes but you will get busted for that one file only. If you have a million dollars worth of additional multimedia and illegal programs on your computer you will be charged for all of it. That's why it is vital for you to protect yourself now so that they won't be able to build up an even bigger case on you if they choose to seize your equipment.
