Car Loan Lenders Can Remotely Disable Your Car If You're Late With Your Payment

Don't see a problem with this. They cut your cellphone off if you don't pay. They turn off your lights, cable, and gas if you don't pay. I'm sure this is a cheaper alternative to loan companies than hiring repo men.

The only thing i see an issue with is them monitoring you whereabouts with GPS even if your are on time with your payments.

:yes::yes::yes:

earlier than that according to Consumer Reports - I remember Lojack being clowned for it's limited countywide range. I'm pretty sure that's how they caught those folks in Atlanta that bought BMWs with fake IDs.

Car thieves have known for the longest time exactly where the GPS and ignition kill are and how to bypass them. I think VICE did a story on it years back.

for summ years now i charged to bypass them..
most of the cars stayed in the city the rest was sent out of town...

YouTube, and disable it. a few wires and a screw driver.

I agree with some of the other posts though, its better to by a tool set and a used car for $2,000 vs locking yourself into a car loan under these crazy ass rules. Or just get a bus pass and save your money. Its better to be proud with money growing in the bank vs trying to be proud, broke, and in debt with a "nice" car.

ask James Collins.

alpharetta police said, a clayton county man was bold enough to steal a $350,000 car and then bring it to a local dealer to have the locks changed.

When James Collins showed up to Bentley Atlanta with a 2012 Bentley Mulsanne, general sales manager Christopher Tuckley told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik he was suspicious.

“He called in Saturday and asked if he could have keys cut for his car, can we program his car,” said Tuckley.

He said Collins then brought the car in and said he needed work done to it, but was going to have a friend pay for it. He said Collins also attempted to sell him the car, but Tuckley declined.

“I called Alpharetta Police Department, they ran the VIN number on the vehicle, it came back stolen,” Tuckley said.

Tuckley said the dealer did some repair work to the car, and told Collins to come back in a few days. When he did, Alpharetta detectives were waiting to question him.

“He stated he had actually purchased the vehicle, that he promised to bring cash to the transaction when the wrecker company dropped the car off at the state line,” said Alpharetta police spokesman George Gordon. “Of course he didn’t have cash.”

Gordon said detectives determined Collins posed as a popular rapper, then wired a bogus money transfer to the victim. By the time the victim realized the check was insufficient, Gordon said the car and its title were gone.

“The owner thought it was OK to put the Bentley on a wrecker and send it to the Georgia-Florida state line whereupon the Bentley was picked up,” said Gordon. “Make sure you have cleared funds. Make sure the title process is done correctly to ensure that you don’t become a victim.”

Fulton County jail records indicate Collins remains behind bars without bond facing a theft by taking charge.

Police credit Tuckley’s keen eye for helping them to corral the car. He told Petchenik the burgundy-colored car is likely one of about two in all of North America, so it caught his eye.

“We’re on it. We check the VINs, he said. “If we don’t know, we’re going to check up,” Tuckley said.

yup.

i still dont understand WHY niggas fuck with these buy here pay here lots.

they will sell u a 2002 car, for $14,000 thats worth $8000.
make you pay $1000 down, and $400 a month.
if you dont pay, they turn the car off, disable it, then TOW it 2 days after your payment is late, then RESALE the car 7days later.

But they teach kids about George Washington in school...

huh?

im sorry, please forgive me, im not trying to clown u, but please explain your statement?

paying your car note on time was more trouble than it was worth?

Nah..the car itself was a pain in the ass to maintain...something was always wrong with it, matter of fact I think I fell behind because I was paying out the ass in car repairs..after a while I just gave it back and took my losses.

All this frustration and anger over an inaccurate thread title... Until you've made the final payment on the car, it's not actually YOUR car... So yeah, the Lien Holder can legally disable THEIR car to recover it... :hmm:

75% of ATL on some fake ballin shit

A sad social experiment of how not to live. Damn near everybody in Atlanta from age 13 to 50 wants to be seen as a somebody so they copy what they see rich famous artists and athletes doing. I remember when Andre 3000 came out wearing that turbin shit from Atliens. Niggas were walking around just like that.

Ford Patents System for Self-Repossessing Vehicles

One day that new Ford in your driveway could up and drive itself away if you don't pay. Ford has filed a patent with the USPTO for systems and methods that aid in vehicle repossession, as first reported by The Drive. One of the systems described in the patent enables an autonomous vehicle to repossess itself. Other methods suggest limiting vehicle functions (A/C, power windows, power seats, etc.) and even locking delinquent owners out of their vehicles.
