Unlike Peyton....he's doing it still in his prime. Unbelievable. I wonder is it the wear and tear or simply playing in Detroit.

Damn, another Detroit Lion retiring in his prime.
That must be one fucked up franchise to play for.

You would think, after having one of the best running back retire early, they learned their lesson and put a team around Megatron....shit makes no sense at all :smh:

It's both but I bet you it's way more about playing for the Lions. The Lions will kill a players love for the sport. Lions lose in spectacular.. think about what Calvin has played though... a 0-16 season ...man..you know how fucked up that has to be to play an entire fucking season and not win a fucking game! or his last season... how many games they did lose on some stupid shit.. remember the stupid penalty at the end of the packers game and then the hail mary pass? (man..he retired that night). all the coaching turnover, making the playoffs one year and finally thinking you're turning the corner and then come out and lose your first 6 games.. smh...

Damn...the league took a hit this year.......

Two of them are absolute Hall of Famers, the other two could be considered Hall of Famers but I can understand anyone that says that they aren't deserving, though they did have a great number of years where they were unstoppable

So you think its like mental? Because Calvin could've asked for a trade man. A trade has to be better than letting him retire. Or do you just feel like at this point his love for the game just aint' there because he played in Detroit? Shit just broke him down.

should be a great hof class
How many of them are 1st ballot HOF'ers? Woodson and Peyton for sure. Calvin........i'd like to think he may be but with his career ending earlier than we thought i'm not so sure now. Lynch gonna take some time to get in. That's without looking at his stats though. It sure would've helped if he had gotten that 2nd ring especially if Russ would've handed him the ball off like he was suppose to.

One of the most talented ever for sure. I don't think he will go down as one of greatest do to his numbers.
He will; just like Gayle Sayers didnt have the numbers but was/is considered one of the best; Calvin is the same way; Football isnt totally numbers hungry like dumb as baseball...

Man he was just like fuck it.
What happens is they be good dudes with ties to the community and just say fuck it lol.
Lions only got like 4 more wins than the raiders over his entire career there.

pete carrol make shitty decisions lol cost them in the playoffs again this year but that's another thread.
even if its just peyton and woodson its still 2 of the absolute top of their position instead of just guys who were good enough to be in the hall

Yeah.....i would've liked to have seen him got more playoff burn......

But I said this in that other thread a few months back. Calvin....may be he's a different make up but he seemed to be content with how things was. Rarely said a word. When it was time to leave he re-upped so I guess things were good enough to do that. IMO, his legacy takes a shot at that. But I guess that's just not his make up.

I guarantee you it had more to do with the community than him being good with it. If he was good with it he'd still be getting money right now lol

Yeah I was just thinking about where those guys stand especially on the eve of TO not getting in. I think all 4 get in but Marshawn didn't clear 10k yards.....so I don't know.

he'll get in he was the heartbeat of an all time great team.
seattle literally didn't win unless he carried them on his back in crucial ass games.
the team would not be right until he made a run and then everyone could magically play good football. never seen nothing like it

Megatron had one really good season and one all-time great season. The rest of his career seasons were just average to good. He is not a lock for the hall of fame.

completely stupid, and next year he will
be brown nosing Behrman so that he can
keep his job at ESPN

Well..he's always said he wanted to retire as a Lion.. but I'm telling you man, there is a special kind of turmoil in Detroit..all the time..and after last year he probably really thought this team would at least be a playoff team or contend for it.. and then they came out and lose the first 6 or 7 games.. that's something only the Lions do.. at least with the Cleveland browns you've long accepted you ain't going to the playoffs or anything..but I think it's worse when you fall into the trap of hope and end up as the last team to win a game.. shit just breaks your spirit..

I'm telling you.. that hail mary pass from Favre was the real tipping point..

Get off the crack. 6-time Pro Bowler & 3-time First-Team All-Pro

Calvin was top 10 in receiving yards damn near every season of his career.. 4 out of 9 seasons he's was top 5 and two seasons he was #1 . #2 all time in receiving yards per game.

What you do for a living?

Atorney/Government Contractor.

What's his HOF case for those who doubt me? His talent was second to none. His numbers unfortunately do not put him ahead of other receivers who have not made it into the HOF.

What is the case for him making the HOF? I am not saying he won't make it... but he is not a lock.
