Students from an Alabama high school apologized for taking an offensive photo of six white students standing on one black student who is face down on the floor.

The photo was taken last week at Moody High School and featured the white teenage boys in cowboy boots along with the caption 'We got us one.'

The image quickly made its rounds on social media but Moody High School Principal Christopher Walters told AL.com that the picture was intended to be a joke.

'We have confirmed that all students involved are friends and participated voluntarily in creating the picture, which they say was intended to be a 'joke,'' he said, according to AL.com.

'The picture is offensive and unacceptable, and it does not reflect the values of our school, our students, or our community.'

According to one of the boy's parents, the teens were trying to make fun of racist people when they posed for the photo.

'They really were making fun of racist people,' Jennifer Kellum, the mother of one of the boys in the photo insisted in an interview with a local TV station

'If I could go back, I wouldn't have took the picture,' he added. 'I probably wouldn't have even dressed up for that day.'

Nick Fuller, the black teen featured in the seemingly racist photo, apologized for the role he played.

He stated: 'I'm thinking about it now, but I didn't think about it when we first took the photos. I'd still like to say sorry again for anyone I offended.'

The school had allowed students to dress up as if they were from New Orleans, Hollywood, Hawaii and Dallas.

The white boys in the photo represent 'Dallas' and are wearing boats along with flannels.
