I would go into the store, and verify everything in writing, they are well known for scamming customers over the phone. It is nearly impossible to cancel services, they send you to the retention department where you will be offered some made up verbal deal. I believe their sales is under heavy pressure which is causing bad customer service.

Do not setup autopay for the first month until you go through the bill. I would use a virtual card that can be locked.

Tying their mobile service to their monopoly running broadband service is a bad idea if they are the only provider. I would use other companies that you can cutoff or not pay; where you won't be sent to a 'Retention' department. Spectrum can abuse you as a customer because they are the only game in town for broadband.

Prepaid service with a unlocked phone is the best way to go, you can not pay and get a new sim card.

I just had a horrible experience with another cable company. Don't fall for the made up deals with their boiler room operation, I got scammed twice.

Go into the store and get everything done with paperwork to protect yourself. Mobile require autopay, use a virtual card that you can lock and block. If they don't provide paperwork, than request access confirming everything with their tablet, take a pic.
