You need to check to see how quickly they will fund your account once you process the card. All make sure to check all fees associated with any mobile processing app/provider. I personally use goPayment which is by intuit it is works seemlessly with quickbooks.

I accept payments via paypal on my website, they charge 2.9%.

I've given this some thought (the mobile card processor app), but decided against it for 1 main reason: the threat of identity theft or the trust factor with ppl giving me their info.

With PayPal they never give me their Card number, etc. and Paypal is identifiable enough for everyone to trust the name. It's like a buffer for me as a business that works to limit my liability. The last thing I need is to have to disprove accusations of fraud or identity theft..... Paypal eliminates the possibility of that happening COMPLETELY.


I may still give it a shot one day, tho... when I was getting my Droid Bionic I saw that Intuit has a card processor & app, and they charge 2.7% IIRC. That percentage may be off, but I know it was less than Paypal charges me. I'm comfortable with trusting Intuit's name, but it's not about my trust as much as it's about my customer's trust.

Limited to people with smart phones. I know it's easy to take for granted, but not everybody has a smart phone. Many with smart phones don't know how to use them, either. Thats why I suggested both.

Yeah but its cheaper to just buy a phone or ipad. That's what I use and it has really helped me to get my money upfront instead of waiting for checks. Those processing equipments are not cheap.

I use wireless Hypercom machines. They can run off battery charges only for up to 6 hours without recharge. This is great because a few my shops locations are outdoor locations (theme park) and aren't near a land line.

I also use square if I'm out on the street doing certain events. The problem with square is the "security issue".

FOR EXAMPLE: Anyone can sign up to SQUARE, meaning if you have a location and an employee wants to rip you off, all they have to do is sign up to square and use their phone and "square dongle" to make sales. How are you going to know the difference? Especially when you have a say, service oriented business that doesn't count inventory?

Your best bet is to sign up with verifone and get one of their machines, ALWAYS BUY the equipment!!! I REPEAT, BUY THE EQUIPMENT!! Renting will have you overpaying for a machine that only costs about $600 (at most) for one. Set up is mega easy.

You didn't read me correctly, THEY can sign up to Square on their OWN. meaning they get their own square and their own account. And when you aren't there, they make sales with their square. All the sales go into their account.

Ok, yeah that could be a concern. But you can monitor your intake by email, and if you see an unusual drop, then call the police. It would be impractical for a big firm, but square is meant for micro managed businesses anyway.

True, I am he only one who takes credit card payments in my office anyway, so it's perfect for me. Most of my money comes in certified checks.

not that it seems cheap but with all the credit card fraud out there I would be hesitant. I dont care if I can dispute unknown purchases but that will mean I have to take time out to freeze my credit and other shit to make sure my identity wasn't stolen.
