Introduced in 1985 to compete with McDonald’s McNuggets, these were made from whole chicken breast fillets...sliced, lightly breaded with a peppery coating, and fried into long, flat “finger” shapes.
They came in flip-top boxes with built-in sauce holders, making them one of the first examples of affordable but “premium” chicken on the menu.
By the mid-2000s, Burger King shook things up by rolling out crown-shaped nuggets, and eventually reworked the Tenders into that same three-pointed design. But they're not the same!
