so I have a five year old who is in pre-k I take him to school every day of the week and pick him up on most afternoons so Mother’s Day the class makes these cheesy gifts for the kids to bring home to Mom... so today is Father’s Day where is my cheesy gift?

Do I say something to the teacher and the daycare owner tomorrow when I drop him off or do I let that shit go?

Not going to lie I’m kind of hurt and upset over not getting that cheesy gift
 
Did your parents get cheesy gifts to celebrate them being grandparents? Should grandparents complain why don't they have a Sunday celebrating their contributions to society? What about uncles and aunts, even cousins, what about siblings?

Bruh.. this same shit happen to me when my son was that age and I actually spoke to one of the teachers. The next year the children made these nice painted foot prints with a great saying about following in their father foot steps. I still got that shit to this day. You should say something but say it in a way that communicate that your child has two parents and it only make sense if they do it for one they do it for the other. I feel you though because I was as pissed as you and I had full physical custody and the teachers only knew me and never seen his mom.

^^^^^This. Teach him to make cards for others and maybe he will make one for you. BTW I got a huge home made card from my 7 year old. Way bigger than the one he made in pre-school when he was 4.

We don’t live in the hood a lot of fathers are active at his daycare and most homes in our neighborhood are two parent families. But again they see me every day call me when he is sick or there is any other problem so I don’t get it.

Roses die and she used less crayons for mothers day, plus when the ground gets wet the wording will disappear... Now for the father day picture way more crayons were used which mean it took more thought and creativity for that picture, its on paper so you can carry it around and post it up anywhere you want, pieces of paper last for a longtime when stored right..advantage daddy lol

I was gonna say this

Fact of the matter is divorce rates are high, there is a significant number of custodial moms, and it's probably not worth risking making even one kid feel bad about the shit.

Being a man is a thankless job, for the most part. It's healthy to see the poetry in that. And it makes the thanks that much more valuable.

Crazy you made this thread. I was at the store earlier and I don't have any kids so I was oblivious to the fact that it was father's day until this og pushing carts walked up and wished me one.

I hadn't heard happy father's day all this morning said to anybody. I've never seen this happen on mothers day, ever.

I'm not even the type of dude that likes to get a thank you for doing what I should do, shit, I don't even have no kids, but I dont like that shit at all.

Prolly only wishing my own mother a happy mothers day next year. Call me petty or whatever but that imbalance don't seem right to me. And I have nothing but reverence for motherhood.

I just went to a father's day breakfast with my son at his school this passed Friday.

I didn't get the cheesy gift, but "mommy" made up for it by making me pancakes and baking me peanut butter cookies.

I'm not really into these kinds of holidays though.

I understand at this point that being a good father is a thankless job.

As long as I am passing on my genes and wisdom in a positive manner, I am straight.
