Tickets for the hotly anticipated boxing showdown between undefeated junior welterweight champions Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander are moving like coldcakes--no, make that frozen cakes--at the Pontiac Silverdome, site of the bout which is being televised by HBO.

An inflamed source told me at noon Thursday that a not so grand total of 339 tickets have been sold for the match between the world champ from St. Louis, Alexander, and the one from California (Bradley).

Tickets range from a $25 bottom to a $400 ringside top and have been on sale since Dec. 10.

The 80,000-seat arena, which recently sold for the price of a modest house and is the former home of the NFL Detroit Lions, will be cordoned off for a cozy, 7,000-seat setup.

"The first four rows at ringside are being given away, those seats go to Don King and Gary Shaw (co-promoters) and to HBO and its guests. You can only buy tickets from the fifth row back," my source said Thursday afternoon.

Chances are we will never the honest count on paid attendance in both dollars and rear ends in the seats who did not get in free as Michigan keeps such information private by law.

Maybe Wikileaks can come up with it, it's beyond me.

There was some insanity to selecting this neutral venue but Shaw and King got some glad tidings Wednesday as their promised $600,000 site fee came through albeit a few days late.

Had the bout been held in St. Louis, a 12,000-seat venue figured to sell out in a short time.

Perhaps, this being near Motor City Detroit, they expect a huge "drive up" at the last minute.

:smh::smh:
Why use the Silverdome anyway? I like the idea of boxing holding big fights outside Vegas and NY/NJ but Detroit's struggling right now and I wouldn't host something with the top ticket prices being what they are in that city. They should at least be promoting the hell out of the fight locally throughout the state of Michigan and into Canada.

Still :smh::smh::smh:
Don King is slipping like hell.

He sure did on this one...Pontiac Silverdome? Not for this fight...He should've went the route of Hopkins-Pascal and have the fight in either one's hometown (especially in St. Louis). He would've gotten better gate sales.

Well as we all saw, the crowd was scarce and the mood was bland throughout the whole fight. And the fight itself wasn't all too much to go on...

It seemed like Tim was winning the fight, but if Devon would've listened to his trainer (especially when he said to hit Bradley with uppercuts) then he would've been more successful against Bradley. I don't think Tim did much but his demeanor carried the fight almost like how Glen Johnson does without the workrate...

What caught me was how Merchant was giving props to Bradley and what he does. To me, he's good but far from great. And to top it off, what you saw is what you're gonna get from him...he won't get any better than that.

On the other hand, Alexander can (and judging from this fight, must) get better and improve. He can expand his arsenal and gain some power to go with his speed...If he threw a lot more punches in range against Bradley then he would've beat dude...same would go with Amir Khan if he faced Bradley (I would pick Khan in that fight, too)

He has no heart tp2001, dude straight up quit, he didn't fight with heart either. The biggest fight of his life and he wasn't doing shit, throwing pitty pat punches and holding Bradley every chance he got. On top of that, he's mad stiff and mad predictable. Dude had too many amateur fights and still boxes like a dude who's just trying to score points olympic style. All he did all night was jab and grab, I don't think it was a coincidence that he quit right after the round where Tim was starting to find a home for the right hand. Let's put it this way, if these 2 guys fight either Khan or Maidana, I don't see either of them winning either fight. That's 2 fights in a row where Alexander has looked mediocre to me at best. Imo dude just doesn't have what it takes in him to be a great fighter, he prolly also needs a new trainer, I think Cunningham has taken him as far as he can. Bradley may not look like much, but he wins. Had this fight been in St. Louis, Bradley would have been robbed. Remember those judges had Alexander winning the Kotelnik fight 8 rounds to 4 which was some straight bullshit. I wasn't impressed with either fighter but Bradley clearly won. The rest of the top guys will probably want to fight them both after watching that fight.

People knew this shit would be garbage.

Dumb ass Devon actually thinks he deserves another shot.

Bitch made ass nigreau.

If he had fans...he doesn't now.

are we really surprised...?

The D is struggling...and Boxing is officially a Niche sport.....hell last fight I attended was at MSG (Cotto Vs. Clottey) alot of empty seats.....

Devon has a bright future wasn't impressed with that performance especially how it ended......and I still see Tim as top of the Jr WW....

Maidana Vs. Bradley make it happen....:cool:

Nah, let Maidana win a big fight before he gets a title shot. Dude's a great puncher but he lost the Khan fight so he needs to win before he fights for a title. Let him and Alexander fight.
The fight was okay. It kept my attention but I thought Bradley was winning and Alexander needs to put more power behind his punches. Scoring points is nice but you have to back people up with your punches or they'll just walk you down.

you don't think Maidana Vs. Alexander won't end up like Bradley Vs. Alexander....?

I see the same thing happening...with one fighter (Marcos) pushing the fight....

I don't think maidana is really ready for Tim...but that would definitely be an exciting fight....

He hasn't earned a fight with Bradley. How does he get that fight over guys who win theirs? He beats Alexander, then he can talk about fighting Bradley or rematching with Khan. I'm all for exciting fighters but it still comes down to wins and losses and it's not like he was horribly impressive (to me) in the Khan loss.

Before I fight Tim Bradley, I would need him to wear a foam guard around his temples. That nigga butts like it's a third fist.
