if we really want messages like this to penetrate the youth, we have to get younger people to get on board and spread the message too. kids will listen when its coming from someone who they can look at more as a peer, or brother rather than a father

thats just my own personal opinion. i know when i was younger i would listen when and older dude tried to kick knowledge but alot of the times it came off as "this dude thinks hes my father"

i know it shouldnt matter but as of right now it does matter and we gotta start somewhere

Good vid.
Valid points.

Btw ..Black Women can be the most educated all they want....but in essence they will only be allowed to go so far. They go through bs as well, especially once theyre surrounded by white folks. We can make all the individual strides we want, but our Men, Women and children will be vulnerable, AS A WHOLE, as long as theres no BLACK FAMILY.

We also need to redefine the definition of family. FAMILY doesnt necessarily have to be blood family. The Brotha thats struggling on the block is FAMILY. The gang member that didnt have anyone to love him or educate him prior to him killing another kid over some bs is FAMILY.

You see the dusty brotha on the block with dreds, and the first thing you do is frown at him and criticize him for sagging his pants. Is he a knuckle head whos forever stuck in his ways, or someone who can be saved?

We need to find balance amongst ourselves, instead of looking for answers outside of our communities.

So bw need the black family to be secure?

Interesting seeing as how black men feel they can make black babies and have a black family with any ol race of woman

I agree that unity between bm and bw would collectively advance us but to claim we can only do well with bm behind us is unfair since noone tells bm they need us to do well

If bm can succeed without us, we can do the same. Actually we can do better :)

And Crackas have? They've had the same bullshit fears since they stole us. Fuck a cracka

Yea i know...

I addressed your issue in the attention whoring thread that you and the nigga with the hairline had going on.

This is a serious issue.....all bitterness aside.

Work on YOURSELF, then come back and have a serious discussion.

it aint the same no more man

this lil niggaz aint trying to hear shit. I work with the youth man and sometimes it seems like a downhill battle but you gotta keep trying

The views and replies to bill cosbys colors and tariqs colors should let you know how stagnant african americans are. Yesterday there was a thread about a school in arizona that wanted to edit american history. And it got me thinking: if blacks can be taught every year that lincoln freed the slaves, why shouldnt whites go for the inside the park home run and claim slavery wasnt as bad some say?

Yet they still have pretty much all of the wealth, own the vast majority of the businesses and in terms of education they are kicking our asses. The truth really cant be denied on this one. Even for dudes like Jordan, he still answers to Nike. Tyler Perry still answers to Lionsgate. It is what it is.

Me and Dr. Boyce Watkins have the same purpose in life. I'm gonna reach out to him. I swear 80% of what he said I've been saying for a very long time and the other 20% was just knowledge dropped and added to my knowledge base.

CLiff notes for those who didn't listen:

Black men socioeconomically haven't advanced 1 bit since 1970.

1970 is about the time that "The war on drugs began".

The war on Drugs [And I would argue the flood of cheap heroin into black neighborhoods] is what began the destabilization of the black community.

BLack men were being taken out of homes through welfare, then drug abuse, then prison, and the latter hasn't stopped in the last 40 years.

Young BLack Men are helped to become pieces of shit by popular culture and this thug rap.

Oh man, as soon as he went on about how we're being pushed to become these certain negative images I started thinking about how the music industry constantly pushed the "Thug" image to us...and what do ya know, that's exactly where he went with it. Pretty good shit, he hit a lot of key issues with some resolution.

who is the corporate c**n he is speaking on ???
