A lot of these lists are subjective and without knowing the criteria used it is difficult to gauge but when I see Oscar De La Hoya 17 spots ahead of Sugar Ray Leonard I gotta call Bullshit!?!? :lol: what the hell was Dude thinkiing? As great as Robinson was its not too far fetched to put him and Moore 1 and 1a.....

I hardly take boxrec's current rankings seriously for many divisions so this isn't much of a surprise to me...It's not like what they say is "the gospel" in boxing anyway...
 
When I saw Oscar over SRL & Hearns I called this list bullshit. Dude only won one fight against a top 100 fighter on the list while they were in their prime. And that was against sweat pea which was a gift. Oscar has never smelled the level of boxing Ray and Tommy reached.
 
Floyd Patterson #20????....but the guy who knocked his ass out twice #76????

Sonny Liston destroyed him...Patterson was not even in his league.

The numbers should be reversed....actually the list is null and void.

IDK, Sonny was the Tyson of his time but to say that Patterson wasn't in his class - even Ali said Patterson was the best pure boxer he ever faced. As far as skill, Patterson>Liston.
 
Robinson and the mongoose are from a different error. They fought all comers in a time that the system didn't want to see a black man holding a title. Dudes were fighting ever 3 or 4 weeks. They also fought more bums than most but still you have to view these two as the best. I wouldn't put Archie over Ray but Ray didn't have to wait until he was 39 for his first title shot either.

Yeah. I kind of been on here to long not to have a place to get audio books and talk boxing. The fight uploads on here make it worthwhile too. We just need them in mp4 format for us iPad and iPhone using dudes.

I have a program than can convert any format to MP4 in whatever resolution you want, 1080p, 720, 480 and it converts in superb quality in a matter of minutes, if you want it, let me know.

So what good was Patterson's skill when Sonny was knocking his ass out???

Patterson had his moment as a fighter...but against Liston he was nothing.
Not only could he not even stay in the ring with him...he looked like Michael Spinks vs Tyson,scared and didn't want to be there.

This is the part of that skills v record shit that we were talking about in the other thread.

A lot niggas don't have the skills but they have the power to win. Then you have to add in the clash of styles into the equations with the size difference but there is no question in my mind that Patterson is the better boxer. It's just that Sonny was able to capitalize on his natural abilities and advantages.
