Boxing Matches That Need To Be Made In 2011

Top fights for 2011.

This is in not in order. However these are the fights I think boxing needs and why.

1) wladimir k vs vitali k - there really is no other fight to be made in the heavyweight division. Is this a pipe dream? Yes it is but damn dudes. These guys outclass everyone they get into the ring with. They destroyed the division because they refuse the give fans they only fight that matters. Will it happen? Nope. Should it? Yes.

2) steve cunningham vs the winner of the bhop - pascal fight. I love this matchup because all three guys are tough dudes. Even more the potential of the top two active philly fighters makes me drool.

3) steve cunningham vs krzystof wlodarczyk - this is the fight that deserves a trilogy more than any other fight. Each fighter has a win over the other. One win is a majority and the other is a slpit. It doesn't get any better than this. I think they have to make this fight. Ibf vs wbc with the winner getting marco huck. This fight has to be made.

4) andre ward vs glen johnson - the best young black fighter vs the ageless warrior is another fight that has to be made. Who would have thought glen still had something in the tank and at a lower weight? Forget what you saw froch do to arthur. This is the only fight in 168 that matters.

5) felix sturm vs sergio martinez - the man that got robbed against oscar has skills. And this really is the only fight worth a fans time at 160. I think sturm wants the spotlight one more time and sergio has a known opponent and champ to go against him.

6) cotto vs yuri, pacquiao, or antonio - cotto has a lot of intriguing fights. He can redeem himself again manny or antonio. Or he can give yuri a shot to redeem himself in that victory over his one legged opponent. Either way these are the fights he needs.

In my opinion these are the fights boxing needs in 2011.

Ward and Bute would be a good fight. I am not sure I would put anyone over Sturm at 160 for Sergio to fight.

Because I wanna see Berto in a fight where the other guy can actually punch. The fights Berto have had are against guys that will go to war with him but they have no serious firepower to actually hurt him. Plus I wonder if Berto can shore up his defense enough to withstand an attack from a world class fighter who is also in his prime.

Berto has to go up. He still has the youth to fill out his body. Cotto isn't dropping weight again for one fight because he seen what it did to him versus Manny.

To be honest I like Berto, problem is he reminds me of Manny. He gets hit WAY too much for a world class fighter, eventually that does you in. Manny has lengthened his career by fighting "weakened" big men.

I miss the 80-90s

I will just do the same as I do with music and my ipod.

Watch old classic great fights/fighters go toe to toe.

Everybodys cute and clever now....no myorgas or tysons left.

The sport took a slow fall ever since Tyson left.

A couple years ago i was on this board arguing with the mma/ufc dudes.

Now i start to see what they were saying even though i cant get with that mma shit.

Fraizer and Duran got hit alot and they are top 10 or 20 all time in their respected weight classes. Manny's defense is fine. If it was he would have lost to these guys that outweight him by 10 or more pounds in his last few fights.

I hope these fights can be made though.

Boxers not fighting is the promoters and politics not fear. Being more clever is being more technical, thats smarter. Cats like Mayorga are fun to watch but are not examples of the sweet science..Mayorga is nothing more than a glorified sparring partner.

I'd rather cats fight technical than end up like Ali.

Antonio didnt have to drop weight. I dont remember if clottey did. Cotto did. But the juror is out on if it even mattered. Lol, jmm is a lightweihght. If guys who outweigh him can punish him how is jmm?

Anyways I think a fight can be made is cunningham vs Bhop. That would be awesome. Seeing how Pascal is scared to giventhe old man a rematch a fight between the top two philly fighters would be great.

1) Manny vs Marquez/Floyd - nuff said

2)Khan vs the winner of Bradley/Alexander - The best guys in that division.

3) Wlliams vs Martinez vs Cotto any combination - Cotto needs to prove he is still a legitmate championship fighter and beating Arum's bum choices won't do shit for that. It wouldn't hurt for Williams and Martinez III

4) Gamboa vs Lopez - The best guys in that division.

5) Ward vs Bute - The best guys in that division.

6) Marquez vs Maidana - Each guy can use the other one as a stepping stone. Maidana can use a really big name on his resume. Marquez needs to make a name for himself at 140 since Manny is flaking out. Fans would eat this fight up (especially Latinos).

7) Berto vs Collazo/Clottey - Berto needs a test and Clottey is reasonable. Collazo and Berto first go around was a great fight.

8) Pascal vs B-Hop II - nuff said. Anything past 2011, isn't worth it for B-Hop.

9) any Klitscko vs Haye might as well happen - Haye needs to just fight them motherfuckers and get it over with.

10) Out of left field but B-Hop vs Glen Johnson - Let's see who time treated better for this rematch.

Wrong!! IMO Pavlik is still a great match against ANY fighter but ONLY against fighters that are his speed of foot and fist. Fast fighters and fighters with great movement will always give him trouble. Other than that Pavlik is fun to watch,he gives you your monies worth everytime he enters the ring.

Boxing is in resurgence right now, just not in America. The Klitschko's are selling out soccer stadiums every fight. The Hopkins-Pascal fight sold out in one hour. Shattering the gate of any GSP UFC fight there. Koki Kameda get 50+ million viewers in Japan when he fights. The entire country of the Phillipenes shuts down whe Pacquiao fights.
