[Box Office] Aug 04-06...Barbie won again... N did they really make another Meg ?..smh

I have been.

Not yet bro. I JUST watched Shazam 2.

Woo boy.

And I defend DC to the death

I'll discuss in the main thread
When you see the baby scene which is like the first 10-15 mins of the movie ull want to kick your tv screen how garbage and cheesy it is. Everything will say don’t watch no more but your inner stubbornness will kick in and u’ll go no I need to see more it can’t get no worst than this

It does

Zod, Batman , and supergirl couldn’t save this shitfest

the little mermaid is heading for 550 mill....how is this a flop
Think it needed $700-750 million to break even. So it's $150-200 million in the hole right now. Production budget alone was $250 million. :smh:Add in marketing and there you go.

Disney turned a layup that should have been a $200-300 million profit into a 9 figure loss. And folks wonder why their media division missed a low estimate by over $300 million in their earnings. It's a clownshow. :smh:

It under performed period.

The reason people doing revisionist history is because it was able to uncharacteristically maintain a steady number for WEEKS

While most movies that under perform are pulled in 2/3 weeks nowadays

So there is a silver lining that it continued to find its audience.

Elemental and Indy are doing the same.

But that is also a huge indictment on how the studio failed in marketing and promoting because OBVIOUSLY the audience was THERE.

and another part is a Disney flop to most other studios is a win

DCEU have similar budgets and would sacrifice a first born child for those numbers or sustainability. Same goes for MI and FFX.

But to be fair to ALL these recent wannabe blockbusters?

Covid DECIMATED budgets for live action

That's why spiderverse and Mario were able to go below 100M.

sidebar...

DC and MARVEL SERIOUSLY need to consider creating an animation division

Gunn is already on that.

I cannot believe Meg 2 made $30 million. Thank God for Regal pass.

This movie was full out ridiculous. It was action packed, but 10% on the Sharknado level with some of the shit. Racing a shark on a jetski, and so much more.

And fucking dinosaurs?!!! Really? No explanation for them either. At least the Megs went through the thermocline, but the fucking dinosaurs they just showed up on a goddamn Island.

Funny thing is there was a dog named Pippin, a throwback ti Jaws 1.

The Little Mermaid flopped because white people are racist. Most people didn't, pardon me. Most white people didn't go see it because it was a black mermaid. Have they used a white mermaid it would have went over a billion just like Barbie

Watching these racist fucks destroy this country is apropos than a mother fucker

That must be why it made so much in the Box office. They had Chinese subtitles at the bottom all the way through. At one point dude made a speech with a bunch of people and there wasn't even any English translator for the people in attendance, though there was subtitles for us

You're a writer and coming out with your thing, right? You trying to get paid, right? So you already got the creative part down, but you don't have the business aspect down, right? Now imagine if you start fucking over your audience and giving them shit they don't want. Bad business and you will fail. Now, is it because the people are (insert term) or are you just doing bad business?

Little Mermaid(and a lot of the shit going on the last 8 or so years) is a prime example of fucking with an IP and finding out. Never, ever, ever race swap, sex swap, or sexual orientation swap IPs. NEVER. Imagine if they sex swap Conan. Am I a sexist because I don't go see that shit? All this shit is just dumb as fuck. And all the streaming numbers and ticket sales support how fucking stupid it is.

Be honest with yourself. Pick an IP you remember as a kid and now imagine if someone deconstructed it and then called you names because you didn't like it. This shit ain't hard. IPs are a license to print money, but these idiots are losing BILLIONS because they hate fans and the source material.

Don't know about you, but I'm sick of these creatively bankrupt fools giving us hand-me-downs and acting like they doing something groundbreaking.

It's because they would rather die on the battlefield of IP than try something new, something fresh, something that could be amazing.

If you don't already have an established fan base, you're not getting a shot in today's world

Now I know what you're thinking and I agree, but these folks are thinking it's a cartoon it doesn't fucking matter, turned out it did to a lot of people. But a lot of the cartoon IP that they're going to redo was just white people for decades,

I can't blame them for wanting to switch it up a little bit. They are trying to get in on the changing world that isn't ready for the change they are trying to put forth

That's THEM talking, or me talking for them. I felt the same way when the Tyler Perry LED Alex Cross was based in Chicago and not Detroit. Why change that? It didn't have to be filmed in Detroit, just call it Detroit. Hardly nothing is filmed in the city it's supposed to be anyway,

how in the fuck did that barbie movie make 1 billion in box office?

damn i'm out of touch with what makes a hit movie cause i thought it would flop

These fools don't deserve a shot in today's world. Give the right people a budget and they will crush it.

Take Cobra Kai. See how they kept the old characters while introducing new ones? Everyone is happy. Those of us who grew up with it and young folks who like the new characters. Takes talent to do that shit. Also, it takes hiring people who don't hate fans. Who don't hate the source material.

You and I could have made a Little Mermaid that came close to a billion. We would have been in the room saying we want a black mermaid. But since we have sense, we would have done a Barbie. Made the surface all about the experience(and Ariel) little girls knew for almost 35 years and then moved the story around on them once they were in the theaters(our previews would focus on Ariel that everyone knows).

Intro a black mermaid who has to save Ariel. How about Ariel and her black mermaid bestie both want to be human but it is the bestie who is more competent? I'm sure we'd have something if given a budget. Perhaps a double love story. This shit ain't as hard as the gatekeepers are making it.

Make our mermaid a character even the white girls would go buy when they get their new Ariel. Because guess what? They going to need both to recreate OUR movie. Boom. We made money in the theater and the toys flying off the shelves.
