What's up BGOL, I am writing to you all because I would like to hear all of your suggestions. I am 6 ft and 235lbs and have a gut. I am seriously thinking about getting a BowFlex Home Gym. But I am not too sure if this the thing I should get.

If any of you have the Bowflex please let me know how it works for you. What type of results you have using the BowFlex or is it better to join a gym.

I really do want get back into shape before the summer hits. Please let me know if the Bowflex is a good investment to good health.

You do know that you cannot "spot reduce"...meaning you have to lose weight all over to lose that gut.

Also since that "gut" was probably the first to gain, it is probably the last to lose. So that means you'd really have to get your percentage of body fat down.

And if it's considerably low and you still retain a gut, that's all diet my friend.

You can't just do weights, you can't just do cardio, and you can't just diet. You have to do all 3 to gain the look you want. It's an easy science.

But to answer your question, the BowFlex works if you're used to exercise and know routines and of course, commit to them.

Thanks, Femmenoire for info so do you have the bowflex?

No. But I know someone who lost 100 lbs using it.

He had been overweight all his life and in his early 20's he just got fed up and committed. He couldn't afford a gym so he did the bowflex thing.

Now he looks like a model.

Really that is amazing. Tell your friend congratulations. How long has he been using the Bowflex to lose all of that weight? Did he do the three things that you mentioned in you above post?

What I find is that most people who commit to working out hard, tend to be committed to a diet, and then the rest falls in place. Because you don't want to waste all that physical effort.

And that's what he did. Cut his carb intake, increased his protein. Did his weight and resistance training with the bowflex and then ran 3x a week for cardio.

It took about a year.

everybody i know with a bowflex uses that thing for a clothes hanger. best to just join a gym and go. 2 easy to cut corners if u do it at your home by yourself

I would save the money and hit a garage sale if you really want the equipment. Its true most people buy these things and they end of collecting dust. First I would try the low carb diet and start walking everynight and increase that to a light jog. Drink plenty of water and if you are beer drinker (its gotta go). Try that for month and you will be impressed with yourself and you can do that without equipment or spending money on a gym.... It worked for me and to the numbnutt with the fat jokes get a real life at least the brother is asking for help.

boflex allows you to be lazy at home. the gym can serve as motivation. and it'll also get you out of the comfort of being at home. you'll be around people just like you at the gym and like I said you'll be more motivated to go than not.

the BLOWflex is a piece of crap! if it takes a full year to get in some sorta shape usin it AND eating right, it not even worth a nickel :hmm:

Hit Man its allabout how much timeu put into the bow flex and .......I had solo flex back in the day it it did wonders for me ............But if you get bo-flex it has to be morethan just a conversation peice and a clothes hanger

I have the Bowflex (Ultimate II). It was one of the best investments I have ever made. I've had it about a year. You can do everything on it. I will say that you have to be disciplined because I can see how easy it is to be lazy at home. For me, it was convenient because it was in my home and I was committed to it. Also, I did not have to wait or worry about someone else sweating on the equipment. I still like the gym because I think it does help to keep you motivated, but I save travel time and wait time with my Bowflex.

Unfortunately, for me, I am looking to sell mine because I am moving. The place I am moving to won't comfortably accommodate my Bowflex. I paid about $2700 with tax and shipping (and a $99 mat). The power rods are guaranteed for life and the Ultimate II has a full 12 year warranty on any part, no matter what. If you are truly interested, let me know. I have used it about 3-4 times a week consistently for 8 months (I travel for my job so I haven't actually used it all year). It is brand new condition. I take care of all the parts. There is a leg extension, squat rack and preacher curl attachment, along with a overhead bar (i.e., pulldowns). I'd be looking to sell it at a very good price. You can check Ebay to see the prices and I'll beat those. Anyway, hit me with a private message for contact info.

What type of protein does your friend eat and what protein does he not eat.
And how many times does he eat a day? And what types of snacks is recommended to eat?

Which Bowflex did your friend have?

I hear you Gullahboy, that would be one expensive clothing hanger.
What is the solo Flex? What type of results did you have with the solo flex?
