Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum already has another huge fight in mind for 2012. On Saturday night at New York's Madison Square Garden, WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (36-2, 29 KOs) retained his title with a tenth round technical knockout over Antonio Margarito (38-7, 27 KOs). At the start of the tenth round, the ringside doctors stopped the contest after concluding that Margarito's right eye was swollen shut and too severly damaged to allow him to continue.

What's next for Miguel Cotto? Arum wants to match him in a big money catch-weight bout with undefeated WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs).

"The fight I want to do with Miguel, is right here [in Madison Square Garden] with Chavez," Arum said.

Am I the only one that thinks Arum was planning Cotto V Chavez this whole time and never considered the possibility of Margarito winning because wtf would be Margarito's selling point against Chavez...:confused:

The funniest shit to me is the catchweight. It was ridiculous a week ago when Oscar suggested a Canelo/Chavez match at a catchweight, but it's not ridiculous against Cotto?:confused:
 
Am I the only one who can't really wait for Arum's heart to seize up so we can get back to real fighters and the best fighters fighting the best fighters without his bullshit :confused:

Don King was a thief and a hustler but dude put together some of the best PPV cards ever. Dude would put 4 championship fights on one card. I miss Don King runnin shit, at least you got your 50 bucks worth.

Interesting. I think he had the winner going against Chavez either way but figured it would Cotto.
Chavez is a step above Margarito and Mayorga but there are a HOST of good options at 154, fight them.
