White bitches have long hair because it was advantageous to be covered in fur whilst living at the foot of a receding glacier in cold dark Europe. For similar reasons, if you look closely, most white bitch's faces and bodies are completely covered with light colored fuzz.

Why don't you come over here and post in the multiple threads we have addressing the same issue???

The generalizing is not cool. Alot of us have hair on our head. I just want you to answer why is it any of you or anyone elses business on what we choose to do with it.This is coming with no attitude

I wasn't trying to start anything. My girl tells me it's because of all the processing that black women do to their hair. She went natural two years ago and has sworn never again to use a relaxer. It took a while to get used to it but I love the afro now and from time to time she uses a hot comb.

Relaxers have nothing to do with it hun. My aunts and grandmothers have relaxers and their hair reaches their waist and ass. It all has to do with how you maintain and take care of your hair whether its natural or not.

Sorry, but that's partially incorrect. Yes, we can have full heads of hair if it it's properly taken care of and not processed with harsh chemicals, but African textured hair (tightly coiled) does not grow extremely long because of the TEXTURE.

How many women of African descent have you seen that have hair that grows down their backs to their butts? I'm sorry, it's just a fact. My grandmother had braids down her back, but her father was a very light skinned man with European textured hair. I guess back then he would have been called a mulatto or quadroon or something of that sort. My mother has what people called "mixed people" hair, just like her mother--it was curly and it grew to the middle of her back. I took after my father who was a dark skinned man with African textured hair. I don't care what was done, I would never have hair down my back like my grandmother or mother, because I have tightly coiled African textured hair.

That kind of curl pattern doesn't grow long. I know there are some exceptions to every rule, but GENERALLY SPEAKING, African coiled hair doesn't grow extremely long down the back.

This is not hate, just a genetic fact. We could however have healthy heads of hair if we stop using the perms, etc.

So you are telling me,I have to have some mulatto in my family in order for our hair to be as long as it is. My hair is healthy relaxed or not

I knew this would be taken the wrong way. :hmm::smh:

NO, I'm not saying that people in your family have to be "mulatto"(I hate that term) to have long hair.

Put it this way--let's go back. How many people in Africa do you see with long hair down to their ass? That is not our genetics. Black, African textured hair is shorter because of the way it's coiled, that's a genetic fact.

Also, I said there are exceptions to every rule, but most black women who relax (damage) their hair with chemicals are not going to have hair down their backs, come on now sista!

Another question should be why do you feel the need for long European hairstyles. Long hair is cool but pop culture has you believing that long hair is the only path to beauty.

Ya'll ladies need to let go of the weaves and gain some self confidence. I'm not saying you cant switch up styles every now and then i'm talking to those of you that don't leave the house or those whose boyfriends and husbands have never seen your natural hair. I was with a girl back in SW Philly for almost a year back in the day and never saw her real hair.

Let it go

I read your post, then I see the girl in your sig is all weaved/wigged out---looks like you need to let it go too then, huh? :hmm:

Do so many black men shave their heads because they're ashamed of their NATURAL hair?

*Raises hand* I am proof. I also comprehend what you are saying Lola however, it is more common than you may think.

I think though that because our environment has dictated what is beauty, some black women choose to take the easier route. I mean there was just a post where one female decided to rock her natural look and received negative treatment because of it.

Do so many black men shave their heads because they're ashamed of their NATURAL hair?

Thanks for asking because after seeing the thread on the other side this question did occur to me.

THIS WILL NOT get a real answer. I would expect to see well in order to get a good job blah blah blah....:hmm:

LS hush.

You have dreads.

Plus you seem to live a pretty healthy life style.

No chemicals, meds, meats, sugar, alcohol and clothes :).

It's pretty hard (not impossible) for women with "african textured" hair to grow their hair long with out it being braided or twisted.

Do so many black men shave their heads because they're ashamed of their NATURAL hair?

No.

It's not the same. For some reason when it comes to hair and and whats considered attractive in the black community or society in general. Most of the eurocentric views got pinned on the women.

I think black men are split down the middle when it comes to natural hair vs. weaves, fried, and permed hair.

I like natural hair. I always have.

I never understood why my mother put that foul smelling perm in her head every few months.

Why she fried and curled her hair, burning her ears.

Weaves aren't so bad but you have women that don't take care of them or they get really tacky hair styles and colors.

So they end up looking like sick cats and dogs.

Loose, wispy, sick and unkept white womans hair on a black womans head. :smh:

Most men shave their head because either they're going bald or it's cheaper to shave your head then going to the barber to get a hair cut every week.

Not to mention that alot of women like bald black men.

And also, some men were raised to think that long hair is feminine. Even locks and braids.

And it's not fair to pick on the subject of getting a "good job".

There's a weak double standard when it comes to negroid hair in the work place. (race and gender wise)

At my job the women can keep their locks.

For the men if you want a certain postition you have to be clean shaven (no beard) you have to cut your locks and braids off and keep a short clean hair cut. You also can't have any body art showing.

They will not promote you to the new position with hair on your head.

And no you can't grow it back once you get promoted. It's apart of the "company uniform"

Now, in a corporate settin' most men will usally grow their hair out after they get the job.

Men don't grow their hair for practicle reasons.

Women usally have some type of emotional/psychological attachment to their hair.

Black women can grow their hair ... I have natural curly hair down to the middle of my back ... it just takes patience ... you gotta be able to get past that time when it may not be lookin' so hot ... just bear through it ... the less stuff you put in your hair the better I think ... and I think it's a myth that putting a weave in will help the hair grow ... braids yes ... weave not so much ... you gotta let the hair breathe ... then it'll be all good:yes:

:hmm: Don't be telling me to hush. When I was younger I had natural hair as well get it corn rowed or braided no weaves. My hair grew. as Star said it takes patience.

And thanks for answering Blunt's question dear. :) thats my boy right here

"Going bald" is NATURAL.

Not to mention that alot of women like bald black men.

So it's okay for vanity to trump "natural" when it comes to men's hair? (And a lot of men like women with colorful, creative hairdos as well.)

And also, some men were raised to think that long hair is feminine. Even locks and braids.

So you support this sort of ignorant cultural brainwashing?

For the men if you want a certain postition you have to be clean shaven (no beard) you have to cut your locks and braids off and keep a short clean hair cut. You also can't have any body art showing.

No one's talking about braids. How about just keeping your natural hair short and trim (rather than shaving it off).

Women have all of the same workplace ssues.

Men don't grow their hair for practicle reasons.

Women usally have some type of emotional/psychological attachment to their hair.

That's really funny, coming from someone who just said "Women like bald men." Ain't nothin' more "emotional/psychological" than that!!!

:smh:

Used to be a time when black men had the BALLS to be both balding and natural. No shaved head "phoniness."

When I was taking care of my weave better than my own hair this question would have been so uncomforatable for me. Maybe I would have got offended and went off on you and held a grudge.

Now that I do have a healthy head of my own hair beautiful and strong as ever I can gladly answer you by saying this is not true. Once you get a nice patch of virgin hair on your head, all you have to do is watch it grow. It won't slow down or stop unless you put something in it.:)

"Going bald" is NATURAL.

So it's okay for vanity to trump "natural" when it comes to men's hair?
like seriously WTF.

Of course its ok for vanity to trump "natural"

It's all about beign comforatble and confident in your self. if you're going bald and you don't like it. whats the point of keeping the rest of your hair.

And you know damn well that there's alot of men that don't shave when they start to go bald. Probalbly more men that try to keep there hair then there are men who shave it all off. We've all seen a comb over.

You asked for some one to explain why men shave their hair. If they are ashamed of ther natural hair.

You didn't clear up the meaning of natural in your question.

Becuase of the subject of this thread anyone who read your response would assume that you meant texture and not growth.

Stop being a smart ass.

(And a lot of men like women with colorful, creative hairdos as well.)

 Really now. Come on. You really belive that. Stop talkin' out your ass.

So you support this sort of ignorant cultural brainwashing?

Nope.

Come on blunt. Take your time and read.

What the hell? Now i know for a fact that you're a women.

And also your reading and comprehison skills are not up to par.

You're so busy trying to be negative that you're not digesting what you just read.

Women do not have to cut their hair or change their hair in the workplace in order to be promoted to a new postion.

FLAT OUT GOSPEL!!

Of course its ok for vanity to trump "natural."

So then what's the point of this thread? If women wanna mess with their hair for vanity reasons, why not?

It's all about beign comforatble and confident in your self. if you're going bald and you don't like it. whats the point of keeping the rest of your hair.

Same goes for women wearing weaves. If they're not comfortable with their natural hair, what's the point of growing it out? Shaving your head is just as "fake" as wearing a weave.

And you know damn well that there's alot of men that don't shave when they start to go bald. Probably more men that try to keep there hair then there are men who shave it all off. We've all seen a comb over.

And most women don't mess with their hair in the way this thread implies.

You asked for some one to explain why men shave their hair. If they are ashamed of ther natural hair.

Stop being a smart ass.

A "smartass" is someone (especially a self-absorbed man) who thinks he can dictate to black women what is the "correct" way to present themselves. I'm just pointing out the obvious, that black men are just as guilty of sidestepping their hair issues, and are very quick to hide their "naturalness" with a shave (whether for comfort or vanity).

Really now. Come on. You really belive that. Stop talkin' out your ass.

Black women have been busted FAR more often for hair issues than black men have. They wear their hair longer and do more things with it. Black men "shave their heads," remember?

Come on blunt. Take your time and read.

I do, unfortunately. Everything, including your nonsense.

What the hell? Now i know for a fact that you're a women.

You pretty much exposed yourself there. You clearly think that calling me a "woman" is a negative or should discredit my opinion. Why does someone have to be a "woman" in order to disagree with your macho bullshit?

You're so busy trying to be negative that you're not digesting what you just read.

Negative??? I'm not the one bashing women or setting up standards for people. I'm just calling out those who should look in their own mirror first, before trashing a race and gender.

Women do not have to cut their hair or change their hair in the workplace in order to be promoted to a new postion.

Of course they do. What planet do you live on. (And far more of them are in high level, competitive positions than black men are.)

Women do like bald men.

Some might. And there are also men who like women with UNnatural hair. So what's the point? Either way you're manipulating your God-given hair.

I just wish black folks would worry more about what's INSIDE of a person's head instead of what's on top of it. :(
