"A New Jersey police officer who shot and killed a Lansdowne man last summer after a road rage incident along Route 3 was found not guilty on all counts Wednesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.

Joseph Lamont Walker, 41, had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Joseph Dale Harvey Jr.

Walker, who was off-duty at the time of the incident, had been driving home from a birthday party for a nephew last June when his car drifted into Harvey's lane after making a turn. Police and court documents indicated that Harvey shouted and swerved toward Walker's car, and both men pulled over.

Police said once both vehicles were on the side of the road, the two men confronted one another. Walker shot Harvey three times, killing him.

Jurors had been asked to issue verdicts on five counts: first-degree murder, second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, using a handgun during a felony and using a handgun during a violent crime.

Walker's attorneys had argued that he was defending himself, saying he feared for the safety of himself and his family. Walker, a detective with the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in New Jersey, testified he showed his badge and identified himself as a police officer, though other witnesses said they never saw a badge.

The jury deliberated for several hours Tuesday before adjourning for the night. They resumed Wednesday morning, and the verdict was announced shortly before noon."

I'm torn on this one. I like it when a black man gets away with shooting a cracka, but I don't like police getting away with killing people. I guess I'll remain neutral on this one.

From some of the comments on the news website the county is a very racist county. It was a few comments about how they were surprised that a black cop could get away with killing a white man in that county. They even went so far as to say that the cop didn't fear for his family or his life because he pulled over to confront the white boy. Some how I couldn't help but think of the same thing being said by black people about Trayvon Martins death. If Zimmerman was so in fear of his life he would not have gotten out of that truck. Double standards are deeply ingrained into this country and white people. Although I generally do not like cops, I say fuck that white boy.

This is some bullshit...what happened to fighting?

Are you going to fight two guys. One (way bigger than you)who just tried to run you (and your family)off the road. Then decides to pull over after you and confront you. While screaming racial slurs and stating he's going to kill you.
