The last two months two white foreign dudes killed by either their chicas or chica's boyfriends (cases not solved). Now this missing couple, well they were found dead.

Thought I'd post, just as a FYI. My passport is still in the mail. I still plan a trip to DR and/or maybe Columbia. With a December trip to Thailand.

I mean, Its a third world country, always that risk. There are a LOT of tourist deaths in Thailand. Mosty drownings, suicides and accidents. It happens.

They say these D.R. deaths was an accident. This dude give a lotta detail.



I thought this wuz my boy Beau and his fine girl Bianca. But its not. Learned alot from him. He travels back n forth to the D.R doing real estate.

NY Couple Who Vanished During Caribbean Vacation Likely Died on Way to Airport

Police in the Dominican Republic say the missing couple from New York who mysteriously vanished while vacationing in the Caribbean country are believed to be dead.

Orlando Moore, 40, and his 52-year-old girlfriend Portia Ravenelle, left Newark Liberty International Airport for a romantic getaway on March 23. They were supposed to fly back four days later. They never came home to Mount Vernon.

At a news briefing late Tuesday, police in the Dominican Republic said a woman thought to be Ravenelle was found unconscious, with traumatic injuries to her body, on the side of a highway March 27, the day the couple had been expected to fly home. She died several days later from her injuries.

Four days after the woman was found, a body resembling the characteristics of Moore was discovered in a car in the the Caribbean Sea, about 12 to 18 miles where authorities believe the couple got into a car accident on their way to the airport. They had rented a vehicle to make their way home; authorities haven't been able to recover the car from the water because of current conditions, but they expect it is the same vehicle the couple rented to drive to the airport.

I can't believe they wanted to drive 100 miles at 10pm at night in DR. That drive could of taken 3-4 hours. Roads in DR are not 60mph. Average speed is 40mph or so. This was dumb. And didn't know the flight was 2am. Most airports I thought have no staff after 9pm usually. Didn't know DR had flights that late.

That was beyond dumb. DR, them locals on moto conchos know every car and some of them roads are small and poor pavement. With potholes, ruts and what not. I would of paid a cab and been done with it.

Most of these cab drivers know the roads there down to the potholes and would of gotten them to the airport much safer than them driving them hours of the night.

I did a 2 1/2- 3 hour drive from the airport to the resort in Belize last summer. Made sure all the driving was made during the day. Never at night

Flights from Newark are usually more expensive than Laguardia. (I did a lot of flying up until recently.)
Only way you saving money in the Tri-State is going to JFK.

Caribean life is different. You dont drive at night, especially that far through the mountain.
The same way you don't take a subway at 3 am in the morning in nyc or chicago... you have to be street smart.
I believe they were inexperienced travelers and were trying to cut cost. Samana does not have direct flights from nyc area anymore. Puerto plata airport is closer and they should have gotten transfers to the hotel.
