BIZ: Hulu will stream Fear the Walking Dead & future AMC scripted series exclusively

Online streaming service Hulu acquired the exclusive subscription video on demand rights to new and upcoming primetime scripted series from AMC, IFC, BCC America, SundanceTV and WE tv, the digital platform announced Wednesday. This will include comedies and dramas, most notably The Walking Dead companion series Fear the Walking Dead, which is rumored to begin in June.

“AMC Networks has an incredible reputation and track record in producing captivating storytelling across a variety of genres for true connoisseurs of television,” Hulu’s Chief Executive Officer Mike Hopkins said in a statement. “This huge partnership guarantees that Hulu viewers will soon be able to enjoy the newest slate of premium programming from some of the top cable networks.”

Hulu users will have access to AMC series prior to each season’s network premiere, in addition to a number of movies from the IFC Films collection and unscripted WE tv programming.

The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Better Call Saul, TURN, and Halt and Catch Fire all call AMC home.

hulu pisses me off. i dont get them.how do they determine or deem a show is worthy of another season....like the strain they have season 1 but i gotta watch season 2 on cable..if im going to cut the cable and just do streaming im gonna need some kind of commitment

I think that's more of the network that produces the shows call to sell hulu the rights to stream their programs. Your last sentence is the reason why. The network doesn't want you to stop watching them on cable.

i hear you but wouldnt me cutting the cable be more the cable providers problem then the network? i mean suppose i have basic cable that channel isnt even provided to me? it would make more sense and money to not withhold any seasons from hulu..more potential viewers..right?
