You're right. that's how these new churches are getting away with so much. When they are the founder, it's pretty much they do as the please. This is really common at the new Mega churches.

The old traditional churches had/have deacon boards, trustee committees, etc and everything was put before them or the church for a vote. These new churches it's what the pastor say, what he want and who he want in positions.
