Bill O'Reilly, Fox News host, rips presidential wannabe Donald Trump over Obama 'birther'claims

alg_trump_oreillly.jpg

Even conservative commentator Bill O'Reilly is casting aspersions on Donald Trump's "birther" views.

The Fox News host slammed the potential presidential candidate over his doubts that President Obama was born in the U.S.

"You get a lot of attention raising the question, but I don't think you believe it," O'Reilly told the billionaire businessman Wednesday night, noting Obama birth announcements ran in two Hawaiian newspapers.

"What is he? Baby Jesus?" the host asked sarcastically. "There was a sophisticated conspiracy to smuggle this baby back into the country?"

Trump countered, "I grew up with Wall Street geniuses. What they do in terms of fraud and how they change documents…" He added that he hated the word "birther" because those questioning Obama are "really quality people who just want the truth."

Some right-wing activists have long insisted that Obama is ineligible to serve as President, claiming he wasn't born in the U.S. Some argue he was born in Kenya, and others contend say it was the United Kingdom or Indonesia.

This "birther movement" has persisted despite ample evidence proving that Obama was indeed born in Hawaii in 1961.

In 2008, Obama's staff released a "certification of live birth," a shorter document that carries the same legal weight as a birth certificate. The Administration has been reluctant to be seen as bowing to politically motivated extremists.

Trump made easy headlines this week after he released two documents to prove he was born in the U.S.

"I have my birth certificate…People have birth certificates. He doesn't have a birth certificate," Trump said of Obama. "Now he may have one, but there is something on that birth certificate - maybe religion. Maybe it says he's a Muslim. I don't know."

Trump said if Obama wasn't born in the U.S. it was one of the "great scams of all time."

"Absolutely," an amused O'Reilly agreed. "But I don't think that's the case…I don't think you believe that either."

If 0bama was born outside of Hawaii (maybe in another state) then there is no law against his typical white grandmother taking out an ad in the paper that her allegedly married daughter & son-in-law had a non-bastard child.

I don't believe that who may have "taken out an ad" is really an issue at all. In many jurisdictions, local newspapers "themselves" scour courthouse files to publish birth and death records as well as short statements relating to defendants having judgments entered against them as well as who got married. Newspapers publishe those tidbits for the nosey who, buy their newspapers just to read such juicy tidbits and other gossip.

The ad IS an issue because O'Reilly always cites 0's grandparents' ad as "proof" that 0bama was born in Hawaii.

Maybe, maybe not. It may be an issue to O'Reillly and others who want to try to make it some significance of it, but it may not be an issue, at all.

Publication of birth/death records is typical in many, many jurisdictions made as a matter of course. When I get a moment, I'm going to see whether that kind of info was published as a matter of course in Hawaii or was done only at the instance of a third party. If it was done as a matter of course, if anything, it would strenthen the argument against the birthers. If publication of those records was not done as a matter of course, it would still not help the birthers because to reach any evidentiary value to the publication, one would have to assume that some giant-ass conspiracy was hatched at his birth.

Not to worry, there is always karma and if Trump thinks he can convert his dealings with property to a presidential run, there is a whole closet of skeletons that will come crashing down in his house of cards...

Obama looked shook, in his first press conference announcing military intervention, body language is big. A wake up call. Credit due, which I will attribute, his damage control, in part, to his balance Michelle...

Trump isn't running for president. One, he'd never take the pay cut and restriction in lifestyle, and two, he's been head-faking people with this "maybe I'll run" schtick for about 25 years now.

Re: Bill O'Reilly, Fox News host, rips presidential wannabe Donald Trump over Obama '

It’s NOT about the “birth certificate”.
It’s about pure unadulterated racism.
“White Supremacy” !!!!!

The ‘white mind’ has been conditioned in AmeriKKKa to believe that a ‘good-ol’ high school dropout, white-boy country bumpkin, plucking cow chips from his boot soles is more suited to be President of the United States than Barack Hussein Obama.

Donald Trump's personal experience with questionable Ivy League admittance standards

The prospective candidate accuses the president of being unqualified for the Ivy Leagues -- like his son-in-law was

Donald Trump added a blatantly race-baiting component to his already racially charged campaign against Barack Obama's Americanness this week when he claimed -- based on things he's "heard" -- that Obama was a "terrible student" who got into Columbia and then Harvard based solely on affirmative action:

"How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard? I'm thinking about it, I'm certainly looking into it. Let him show his records," he said, without providing backup for his claim.
Trump added, "I have friends who have smart sons with great marks, great boards, great everything and they can't get into Harvard."

Leaving aside the fact that Obama, who went on to graduate Harvard Law magna cum laude, seems like he was probably a very good student, Mr. Trump might need a refresher course in how unqualified people actually do manage to get into the prestigious Ivy League Universities .
Let us take, as an example, the story of a student so obviously unqualified, so transparently unworthy, that a book was written about what his admittance into Harvard said about the sorry behavior of supposedly elite colleges.
That student -- that dull, below-average student who somehow made his way into Harvard -- was Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Kushner's father, real estate developer Charles Kushner, bought Jared his Harvard acceptance. It cost him $2.5 million. (Kushner later went to jail for tax evasion and witness tampering, so it was also, technically, dirty money that bought Trump's daughter's husband's entry into the Ivy League.)
Wall Street Journal education writer Daniel Golden's book "The Price of Admission" explores the Kushner donation at length. An official at Kushner's (expensive, private) high school told the author: "There was no way anybody in . . . the school thought he would on the merits get into Harvard. His GPA did not warrant it, his SAT scores did not warrant it. We thought, for sure, there was no way this was going to happen."
But it did.
And that is how things actually work at "elite" schools.
