Barry Lubin, Grandma the Clown, resigns for sexual misconduct
The man behind Big Apple Circus’ Grandma the clown resigned Tuesday after an ex-acrobat revealed that he pressured her into a lurid photo shoot when she was 16.
Barry Lubin, 65, stepped down after former aerialist Zoe Dunne relayed the disturbing allegations to Big Apple Circus officials, according to The New York Times.
“The allegations are true,” Lubin said in a statement issued through his lawyer.
“What I did was wrong, and I take full responsibility for my actions.”
Dunne, now 29, told The Times that Lubin hired her in 2004, then presented her with a side job modeling for his personal photography business.
Inside his Lincoln Center trailer, Lubin told Dunne he was taking photos for a Japanese paint-on tattoo company.
He ordered her to lie on a bed in a bathing suit and pretend to be sleeping, The Times reported.
Then he told her to imagine how she would feel about scoring a date with Ashton Kutcher.
“I felt overwhelmingly sad, not excited,” Dunne told The Times.
The shoot turned even more disturbing moments later when Lubin told the teen to remove her underwear.
