Well said, BUT it is hard for our people to think like that when they had major past problems. I once was in this situation, feeling as though I could not gain adequate employment after years of military active duty service, because of several misdemeanors, and a felony charge (The felony charge was dropped to a misdemeanor).

The thing about it, although I had the dual degree (BA English/Computer Information systems), the criminal background did not play well with employers. This was the deciding factor that took me from unemployed to semi self-employed.

I worked as a teacher for a few months, but the background keep on coming up when I did my yearly evals., and as such, I left the teaching realm, and poured my focus into tutoring, making a pretty penny as well. (Along with web hosting...but that is dwindling away, for it takes up too much of my time).
