I stopped drinking soda years ago cause the shit just started to FEEL unhealthy. Now all I drink is water and a few "juice" drinks.

Recently I've been on a little health kick and read the ingredients on what ever I eat most of the time now.

One thing I'm noticing about these "juices" is Damn near all of them have that high fructose corn syrup bullshit in them.

I'm not trying to put that in my body no more man...that shit is a killer (but its legal smh).

What brand of juice (if any) can I pick up that is mostly natural and doesn't have any of that bullshit HFCS or GMO?

Thanks in advance BGOL - Stay healthy brehs

What do you consider a "juice" drink? I'm sure orange juice doesn't/shouldn't have corn syrup. But the sugars in that are high as hell anyway.

You're better off getting a juicer like one of those Ninja juicers and making your own stuff. Just be sure to wash the fruits and vegetables like they were dishes to get off pesticides before juicing. Don't peel them. The skin tends to be the most potent and healthiest part.

I actually meant "fruit" juice and sadly I have ran passed some "orange" juices that has corn syrup in it.

like chappelle said that aint juice, thats drank...

I just get me some stevia...which is the best sweetner, or RAW honey, or grade b maple syrup,

add some lemon lime an make my own juice..

if I feel like some soda, I would just put one of those sweetners in a large mug, add a lil water to make it syrupy, mix it up,

then add some perrier or sparkling mineral water... BANGIN...

or I may buy some organic tart cherry juice and mix it with sparklin mineral water...

dope and healthy as fuck..

yea fuck soda.. my stupid ass was drinkin arizona green teas first thing in the morning..because all I was reading was the ginseng and honey it had in big letters...

then one day I was noticing my feet was feelin numb, and would hurt when I walked..

I was like da fuck is going on.. then I read the label and saw high fructose corn syrup...

I stopped drinkin that shit and in a couple of days I was back to normal..

that shit had me on the path to diabetes bruh...

fuck a gotdam arizona anything....

I heard about the peel being the healthiest part of a fruit but does the juice actually taste good with it left on?

As far as those Arizona's....death water and niggas use to swear that they were prestigious walking out the store with those.

Honestly the only juice I drink is Dole pineapple juice. Old school, in the big ass can. 1 ounce, and 1/4 lime squeezed in 36 ounces of water. Aside from coffee, that's all I drink.

use to drink those too (big dumb ass can) but the shit started to give me heart burn, most likely from my bad sleeping and eating habits combined.
So let me get this straight though, you are combining the Dole with the other shit?

Just water bro. Ive got a couple 36 ounce bottles. In the morning I put 1 ounce of pineapple juice, 1/4 of a lime, then fill it up with water. Drink it while I'm at work. Come home and probably drink another one. If it's a workout day or weekend I may go through 3-4 of them. It just keeps water from being too bland. I'm at the point where I'd rather not drink my calories, just add a little for flavor.

Naked and bolthouse farms don't usually have added sugar BUT you are still going to have high carbs, even if natural. All fruit is processed as sugar, but some of the drinks that have fiber also may slow the impact. Your body can normally process natural fruit sugars better, but as far as blood and glucose spikes, it acts the same.

Honestly it's an acquired taste. Truth be told must of us have had our taste buds perverted by a life of unnaturally sweet stuff. Our ancestors didn't live on such a sweet diet before neo-colonialism infested Africa or being held hostage here in the Americas. So much sugar that for some of us our bodies reacted by no longer making natural insulin causing diabetes. So when you are squeezing fresh lime keep in mind you can also grater the skin and sprinkle into your juice and one your food to really get the full vitamin C blast your body needs. There are far more toxins on the earth than 100 years ago so the fight to stay ahead disease must be ratchet up more notches.

So are you saying eating too much fruit (natural sugars) can be bad for you just as much as HFCS?

Thanks...I see this Bolthouse carrot juice..I'm assuming better than a V8?
If you got time can you snap a pic of the nutritional label on the back?

Depends. If you are trying to lose weight it can be a problem. If you don't have any weight issues or diabetes you should be fine. The only thing that doesn't really spike your blood sugar and cause insulin resistance are meats, fats and fiber. Even vegetables break down to sugar, but they have fiber so they don't cause fast sugar spikes. If you are sensitive to sugar to the point it stops you from losing weight, then you should reduce it or use low glycemic fruits like berries. Most paleo and low carb diets in the beginning stages don't allow fruits or vegetables like corn, potatoes and carrots or allow them in very limited amounts because they are mostly sugar. People trying to lose weight on low carb try to keep sugar levels low so they burn fat and try to avoid stuff that causes quick spikes of sugar. Eating stuff with a lot of fiber helps. Also fat can sometimes slow down sugar spikes.

Nope, I don't have any weight problems. I have always been a slim dude.
Just don't want any health problems down the line from eating all this poison they put into food.
Never knew what GMO was until recently and I lost my shit...I refuse to put that in my body on purpose.

That's why voting matters. Dems and progressive states want GMO's labled. Republicans fight it tooth and nail.

Sweet fruits have natural sugar but it's still sugar. You're best balancing a diet with vegetables like Camile said. Don't sleep on beans for fiber. Just drop a quarter teaspoon of baking soda per pound to stymie otherwise impending gas. Nobody really wants to be around farty mcfart.

It cost a bit more but try to go organic. These carrots are grown organic. Mind you they are a man made hybrid like most of the weed I smoke. Seriously I don't even know where to get that reggie bush we used to call Arizona weed. Not withstanding that is another issue within it self.

Oh and garlic is you friend. When you are juicing drop a clove or two or how ever much you can tolerate into the mix. Don't get crazy with it though. Those garlic farts will make your eyes bleed if you are locked in an office by yourself in a sky riser where the windows no longer open due to past suicides.

Fruits and vegetables are picked when they are ripe.
Part of "ripeness" is when it is at peak level of nutrient density.
After harvest, the nutrient density declines as the food begins to rot.
Rotting for fruits and vegetables is the breakdown compounds and nutrients.
Low for human consumption, still nutritious for other plants(compost).

Three things destroy fruits and veggies.
  • Heat
  • Light
  • Oxygen(Slice an apple or a potato and it quickly begins to breakdown.)
With real "juicing", depending on what type of juicer you get, you have about 15 minutes(high speed juicer) to
2 days (slow masticating juicer) before the juice gets oxidized and the vitamins have all dissipated.
You can easily notice the change in the 'taste' of 'real' juice. It becomes tart and sour.
High speed juicer introduce heat. After the juice is separated its being exposed to oxygen.
The more space left in the container, the more the oxidation levels increase.

Grocery store juice is glorified sugar water because the nutrients dont survive pasteurization(heat).
The life of the "taste" is extended with preservatives or extra sugar added to trick the brain into
thinking that the juice isnt rancid. The sugar levels start to rival those of soda that contains
high fructose corn syrup. "Organic" juices start to oxidize immediately after opening if it hasnt
already started immediately after bottling. The space left in the container after taking a glass is more than
enough to oxidize the bottle in minutes. So youre drinking sugar water with every additional glass you drink
Regardless of the source, both homemade or store bought juice will wreak havok on your teeth by lowering
the ph level in our mouth which promotes cavity.

High Fructose Corn Syrup is highly concentrated sugar. Juicing is compacting the juice from
20 oranges into a 1 liter container that youre probably going to drink in one serving. You wouldnt
come close to eating that many oranges, so why would anyone need that much concentrated juice?
The body does have its limits as to how much nutrients it can take in.

Real juicing for health is more like 80-90% green juice with 10-20% fruit for a little flavor.
Commercial juicing and smoothie chains pump up the sugar by adding excessive super sweet fruits
like apples and bananas or citrus fruits like pineapple and mango to keep you hooked. Easiest test is too
let someone who drinks soda regularly try it. If theyre cool with it because it has a sweet taste,
then youre probably using too much fruit.

There can be other negative effects to consuming juice. Even if it is green juice.

Juicing can be part of a healthy diet but dont use juicing as a substitute for meals.

Skip juices altogether bruh. All juices. Kill that shit. Water! Maybe with some lemon slices in there.

Maybe sparkling water with a dash of flavoring from time to time. Black coffee. Green tea. Forget juices exist... consuming calories is mad easy in a liquid format and most juices are nothing but sugar which will spike your insulin to high hell and fuck your metabolism all the way up.

Switching to insane amounts of water is the easiest and first lifestyle change with practical, immediate benefits that was recommended to me when I started my fitness journey way back when. Thirsty? Drink water. Hungry? Did you hit your macros for the day? Drink water.

Some people need the vitamins and minerals in quality juices. Like you said, it's easier to get things through liquid instead of piling food in your face. Juice is an easy way to hit targets.

But if someone wants to be careful about their weight, quality water and supplementing vitamins/minerals might be best. Juice can be so fucking good man. Next thing you know, you just drank 1000 calories.

Fuck that bottled shit. Fuck tap. Filter your own water. We're water snobs here. My kids react to tap water like vampires do to holy water. Reminds me of that Curb your Enthusiasm ep about tap water.

You can get all the micronutrients you need from whole foods and a few quality supps (and the list of essential supps is mad low). I know I'm preaching to a dude who already knows tho

Tap water gets a bad rap imo (unless you in Flint, don't drink the water there brethren lol).

Buy a juicer. I bought my first one about 7 months ago. The fresh fruit is a little more expensive but my son loves it. I love it. Would never go back. Fresh and you know exactly what's in it if you dont mind taking the extra time to juice but imo it's worth it. I never buy sodas or juice. Just the fruit.

Hey can you throw some quality sups out there?
Looking for a good leafy green joimt

No doubt. Eating right is important. But it's amazing how dense juices can be though. Liquids are so much more convenient than whole foods thus the use of post-workout shakes.

So many people have deficiencies that it isn't even funny. People get busy and it's just easier to drink/supplement vitamins and minerals instead of sucking down a pound of spinach. lol

Yeah, tap got a bad rap because once you filter that shit you don't want to go back. Shits like drinking pool water.

Honestly the best thing possible bruh is to eat tons of broccoli, spinach, some kale, leafy salads and then colorful veggies along with your protein at meals. The only daily supps worth a damn imo are a good quality fish oil, a greens supplement like this (brand doesn't matter check amazon for something with the same kind of profile and decent rating). A solid protein powder with low carb profile to help supplement days/meals with limited whole food options. Tons of real fish and chicken breasts are better tho. A daily vitamin for men. Curcumin and turmeric are healthy af in general and worth looking into. Creatine and glutamine if you're really lifting consistently (not necessary for first 6 months to a year if ur serious about diet and rest imo)

And ultimately it goes without saying that daily activity is crucial (make a goal of sweating 20 mins a day no matter what on some limited cardio shit) and weightlifting 3-6 days a week is a health game changer in a HUGE way. This is just my opinion... your mileage may vary and your experiences may and probably will be different but the most important thing is to explore these things like you're already doing. Respect!

Here are some juicing books. All the links should still be good....

Yeah. Juices pack sugar, but I get it for the vitamins.

Since I run, I go with high carbs. I need the energy for long runs (4 miles or more). Fruits (all kinds), rice (Indian, Caribbean, Asian meals), and oats (oatmeal). I eat a shit ton of spices, so all my food be flaming hot (curry, turmeric, cayenne, sriracha, ginger, cumin, and various powered peppers). All that is for my sinus, since I’ve had trouble with them in the past. Since the change of spice intake, my nasal passages have been much clearer. My veggie preference is cabbage, the squash family, broccoli and greens. Carrots as well. Fish and chicken is my preferred protein.

For those of you who aren't into running I suggest you take walks. Today I ran into two childhood friends I had not seen in 20 years. One of them was so sick I didn't recognize him. His brother had to point him out.

Dude had been diagnosed with diabetes since he was in his 30's and didn't take heed. Ultimately he paid the price and now has to go through dialysis. He's even lost his vision. Growing up he was always a fatty. Now he's lost so much weight he's no longer diabetic.

His older brother who was with him is still a fatty. I told him he better start walking at least. I try to walk at least 10000 steps a day. I suggest everyone give it try. Our sedentary lifestyle is killing many of us.
