DMX (dextromethorphan) is the active chemical. It is an opiate based drug. In large enough quantities it is hallucinogenic, aka RoboTripping. In all honesty, i would rather just take shrooms or acid.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dextromethorphan#Recreational_use
Since their introduction, over-the-counter preparations containing dextromethorphan have been used in manners inconsistent with their labeling, often as a recreational drug.[12] At doses higher than medically recommended, dextromethorphan is classified as a dissociative hallucinogen. Certain effects that are similar to the dissociative agents ketamine and phencyclidine (PCP). It can produce distortions of the visual field - feelings of dissociation, distortions of bodily perception, excitement, as well as a loss of sense of time. Some users report stimulant-like euphoria. Dextromethorphan usually provides its recreational effects in a non-linear fashion, so that they are experienced in significantly varied stages. These stages are commonly referred to as "plateaus." WARNING
Heroin, codeine and Morphine; all very similar molecules and have similar effects on the body and brain...
Not to lecture you, but your body works on a pleasure principal system that uses dopamine as rewards... What dope or alkaloids in opium does is trick the body to thinking its dopamine making the user feel a flood of pleasure....
The problem is the more you take the less affect it has, and the more you take the less dopamine your body starts to make.... In short you will lose the ability to experience pleasure.
Everybody should view syrup the same way you do dope, because it the same bullshit, just is a sweeter package..

DJ Screw and Pimp C of UGK went out to it

folks in texas think they was assasinated....but thats neither near nor there

fat pat...big moe...and a few others had complications with that shit

we dont call it "syrup"...thats what the white people call it

we call it barre...lean....drank...here in dallas they dont do it as much as they did about 10 years ago....i dunno bout houston

but

i miss good screw:dance:

Man shit is everywhere now:smh: It use to be just some south shit.
Not true. Syrup has been around since the 60's & 70's. It was a substitute for heroin users. We called it Rope (Slang for the cough syrup Robitussin). A lot of pharmicists got their license's snatched , because you could only sell so much during a month & were supposed to keep a log. The onl;y difference is now they mix it. It's not new; just recycled.

my old doc said lean has a harsher long term impact on the body than coke.

also said with all popular drugs considered, cigarettes are pretty high up there on how hard the addiction is to break and the damage they do to the body overtime. like they are top 5 in both lists.

What Is It Made Of?
Codeine is a controlled substance in the United States. This means that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) supervise its manufacture and distribution. Opium is sometimes harvested by slicing the plant's seed pods and extracting the sap. In 2005, however, machines were available to slice the entire mature poppy plant into bits and grind those bits into powder. According to Gahlinger, "Each year, more than 600 tons of opium powder are legally imported into the United States for legitimate medical use."

Pure opium can be separated into three different drugs: morphine, codeine, and thebaine. Most of the codeine used in the United States is synthesized from morphine by a process called methylation (pronounced meh-thuh-LAY-shun). Codeine is an organic, or naturally occurring, compound that contains carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen. Its chemical formula is C18H21NO3. Codeine is also an alkaloid. Curiously, while most of the prescription codeine is derived from morphine, when the drug is ingested, the human liver turns the codeine back into morphine. Therefore, the compound works on the brain in the same way morphine does.

Heroin, originally produced in 1874 by acetylating morphine with ascetic acid, was first perceived as a morphine replacement, as it was thought at the time to be non-addictive. Heroin, a is a prodrug -- a substance that isn't a drug but is converted into a drug by normal metabolism. A pseudo-opiate or para-opioid, heroin becomes morphine once it crosses the blood-brain barrier into the neurological system, where it hits with approximately 3 times the potency per measure of morphine. Still rarely used licitally for extreme pain control, heroin has almost left the pharmacopoeia, replaced by morphine and a myriad of opioids.

As you can see both heroin and codine become morphine once inside the body. So if you want to study what Syrup does to your body, your study should include the affects of heroine and morphine being that all three are essentially the same drug.

 I thought they gave people methadone to wing them off heroin

Make my pancakes taste better

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Damn addicts on BGOL! :lol::smh:

Whats sad is many of them don't realize they are dope heads, or are addicted to the same shit dope heads on heroine are addicted to. They think that just because its in a drink and it taste good, that its not the same old dope people inject into their arms....
The thing about dope, is that the longer you are on it, the deeper the addiction and the deeper the addiction the more you need to take or else you will start feeling real deep pain.... Once you become addicted to morphine your body quickly grows accustom to the drug, and the more will need more your body would require to get less of a high...
Eventually most addicts figure out that its actually cheaper just to shoot up...
So many lean drinkers will eventually become tomorrow heroin addicts and bums :smh:...

:hmm::hmm::hmm: Fat Pat was murdered, and they called it "syrup" on the screw tapes all thru the 90's

And shame on you for calling swisha house good screw lol

But to the OP that shit is highly addictive, expensive and in no way good for you.
