Starts the day after the Finals.

Main board thread here. Here's the schedule, based on a projected 6 game series:

June 19 - July 18: The Jordan Rules by Sam Smith

July 19 - Aug 18: Sacred Hoops by Phil Jackson

Aug 19 - Sept 18: Eleven Rings by Phil Jackson (Ipad and Kindle versions here)

We can choose a new set of books (maybe even for another sport or topic) by consensus every quarter. We'll see how it goes. Anybody down for this initial set?

Hang Time by Bob Greene

a very good Jordan book

The Inside Game by Wayne Embry.

just because of all the moves that were made BEHIND the scenes to create these franchises.

Never heard of either... If we manage to get this thing off the ground, I figure we can decide on the second set through a massive poll, which could result in some diverse, fun choices.

Are you in for round 1?

i doubt i will join, but i offer advice: stay away from the biographies and second hand works.

stick with the autobiographical works (ghostwritten ok).

the reason for this is because of examples like coach jackson admitted to feeding false information to sam smith while he was writing the jordan rules. coach jackson purposely duped sam smith to create rifts and leverage he would later use to his advantage.

another example is roland lazenby, who does not provide objective retelling of events. roland lazenby is purely a fakers shill. recall his "reporting" THIS season of pau gasol being traded. so much for being an insider.

have fun.

Where did Jackson make that admission?

i don't know where you can look it up, but it wasn't very long after publication.

coach jackson admitted leaking false information to sam smith to create a division between players and management in order to bolster team unity. it worked.

he also admitted to using sam smith as a pawn to leak false items into the media for other reasons.
