Beyond Two Souls Reviews

I played the demo and they messed up a potential good game with stupid controls and half ass graphics. :smh:

I'm on the phone trying to get credit for my prepurchase right now. I'll get it used in a few weeks for $15.

Yeah I didn't think it was gonna be any good.

I'm baffled as to why Gamespot gave it a 9.0 Da fuck is that about? I only trust reviews from GS and IGN how the hell their scores are so far apart on this one?

With games such as these, you have to be a fan of the genre to enjoy as the releases are few.

I wouldn't let reviewer dictate a purchase. Not in this case.

If the experience is anything like how Heavy Rain was, then it is worth it, but not at no $60. :smh:

Yeah not trusting anyones negative reviews on this. Heavy Rain got bad reviews and that is one of the top 10 best games of this generation of games.

I have Heavy Rain and enjoyed it a lot. Bought this game today and so far its like Heavy Rain to me. It has a lil different element in it in which you have to sneak around people and use your "ability" to distract guards n such. I think the bad reviews come from the difficulty of the game...its too easy, you're just pretty much along for the story

Metareview: Beyond: Two Souls

Reviews for Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls appear to have been delicately placed on a lazy susan and then spun by the force of a truck slamming into the table. We haven't seen scattershot like this since the last time we fed caviar to a baby. Our review used the term "face full of ghost farts" in it, so let's see what delicate words were used by others.

  • Gamespot (90/100): "Top-notch acting makes the characters you interact with sound believable ... Beyond: Two Souls so easily melds story and mechanics that you become enamored with this young woman and her extraordinary life."
  • Polygon (80/100): "While it's exhilarating to see a team that has worked so hard to perfect a new way of telling stories, I couldn't help wishing they had a perfect one to tell."
  • Giant Bomb (3/5): "Maybe there is no simple yes/no recommendation to give this game. For every part of it that comes together almost perfectly, there's another that's stricken by needless cliche or undercooked gameplay."
  • Edge (50/100): "... this is a game almost entirely bereft of tension, one in which failure goes largely unpunished and is almost always inconsequential. There is emotion here, but it's felt passively, as spectator instead of player."
  • VideoGamer (40/100): "There are bright moments, but when a game sells itself on a story, said story better be good. This one isn't, and anyone expecting Heavy Rain 2 is going to be sorely disappointed."

I loved Heavy Rain and I enjoyed the demo for Beyond Two Souls. I'm still gonna cop this game. I have faith in Quantum.

Chris does the best walkthroughs

I would've bought the game if they released it with a download option through PSN. I haven't bought a disc game in years & don't plan to start now. That's the reason I have 1TB in my systems.

I'll save my money and download Assassin's Creed & Watchdogs <---- Watchdogs is going to be a BEAST when it drops. I just hope it's not too short.

PSN usually sells old games at a heavy discount, but they haven't released Rain yet I don't think, so they probably won't release this either, oh well :dunno:

I'm willing to give away my copy of Heavy Rain away for free.

Shit is just collecting dust at this point :smh:

The Ellen Page-starring movie/game hybrid Beyond: Two Souls was often as much fun to watch as it was to play. And now, thanks to Gamebillstudio, you can go ahead and watch the whole thing, even if you don't own a PS3

They've distilled the essence of the game's story into a two-part, 4.5-hour movie. The first part is above, and you can watch part two here:

They've also made a version that places the events of the game in chronological order, if you'd like to have a better sense of Jodie's life than even she does.

Part one:

And part two:

I'd maintain that on the whole, Beyond is still better played than just watched, not so much for the overblown, silly story but to experience the small, mundane interactive bits that can be so interesting and enjoyable. But if you don't want to take the time and are curious about the story, this is a pretty good alternative.
