Damn. This is a good one. I feel like Marcus Camby is the better player but Chandler has slightly more impact on the defensive end. Chandler was the defensive anchor on a title team so I am going to give him the slight edge based on that.

I followed Camby's career during the collegiate days more closely given all the 90s talent back then (Allen, Camby, Iverson, and many more). He has bounced around so much in the pros it's been hard to keep tabs over time. Kinda wish he would have made more of an impact and bulked up some given his lean frame.

I've been pleasantly surprised with Chandler's progression over time. He's made his mark, is a solid defensive talent, and has been a key player in recent years with Dallas & NY.

Just my $0.02. I'd go with Chandler (ongoing).

Everyone knows I'm a Chandler fan but I'm going to go with Camby here

Very close matchup and great comparison though

Just feel like Camby did it at a high level longer

If Tyson is still playing like this 5 years from now then he will get the nod

Plus he doesn't block as many shots as he should and Camby is the better rebounder in his prime along with that ugly jumper he can hit if you just leave him at 12-15 feet

yeah man this is exactly why i didnt vote

its too close to call for me

you also have to note that camby played against better centers during his prime years and he had that 15 foot J you mentioned

for me its a tie but id lean towards Camby

Perfect summary because I remember when the Knicks got Camby. I think everyone thought he would be an impact player. He just never became that player.

I'm giving Chandler the nod.

Champion, All Star, DPOY > DPOY

I wouldnt hold those other accomplishments against camby

cambys prime years coincided with shaq and duncans primes

youre not eating against two of the games greats

CO-SIGN...and dude still has some years left...Melo may be the best player, but Tyson is most valuable to Knicks going deep in playoffs...

I'd have to give it to Chandler b/c of his Leadership on the court. From what I've seen, I think his basketball IQ is higher than Camby's and he's more of a leader. The ring is a huge plus, but we can give an even bigger edge to Camby for being better on the offensive end. Either way, good comparison.

wow this is a damn good one  i know chandler got the ring but i may give the slight edge to camby as a better all-around player

Chandler hands down. He started his career as a slasher and wing player and he's developed into the most fundamentally sound and coachable center in the NBA.

Chandler has never even had an all defense first team vote. Spent a significant part of his 20's on IR and/or ineffective. Was never the shot blocker that Camby was and didnt spend his prime matching up against great big men in their prime to the degree that Camby did.

Camby.

The 1 with a ring
Please. Just take Luc Longley while you're at it.
good one!
I thought so at first but looking at Chandler's career numbers, he only even compares to Camby in people's minds because he's in his absolute prime with lesser competition while Camby's got five seasons on him. Dust off the books after ten years and I think Camby clearly takes it.

tyson chandler's FG% doesn't sway any of you marcus camby voters?
No. Certainly not when you acknowledge his offensive repertoire starts and stops with put back dunks and alley oops and his shooting range extends to the layup. First half of his career before he got with Chris Paul he was offensively putrid.

marcus camby's FG% is pretty underwhelming and a lot disappointing for his position, IMO.

rasheed wallace and marcus camby near identical in that respect.

i expect big men to get closer in FG% to tyson chandler than demarcus cousins.

True. But Camby was a better offensive player who had a shooting range of about 10 feet (horrendous form and release though)which had to be somewhat respected and accounted for. He was also never a liability on the FT line and imo was the better team and on ball defender.

They traded Elton Brand in his prime for Chandler

Then paired him up with Eddy Curry......

Bulls could've been decent a long time ago

Yea but he and curry acted childish as shit when they were Bulls. Not serious enough about the game. Always wished he'd come back though.
