Good story on hunting. As an avid elk, duck, rabbit, and pheasant hunter (I fish as well), I feel that you get way more appreciation for nature and your food if you hunt it yourself.

There's a big difference to me between hunting to eat, and just hunting to kill.

Americans used bear grease for many things. They cooked with it, they would also put it in their hair to braid it etc...

I believe the Brother they mentioned (Holt Collier) was probably an American Indian himself. If he killed 3000 bears, he had an exceptional connection to the land.We also know that many American Indians we re-classified as Negro.

Brown bears are killing machines and apex predators. That guys has no idea how lucky he was to survive that encounter.

I would never set foot in the woods where brown bears reside without a bona fide firearm of some sort on me.
