The Major League HOF class welcomed two new members today, and both are well deserving of membership;each played an integral role in his team's championship season(s). Former Boston Red Sox can breath a sigh of relief, now that he's made it( although he should have been elected fourteen-years ago), but it's better late , than never. Rickey Henderson's name will always be mentioned when names of past greats are mentioned. He enjoyed a record-setting career.

One was expecting a first ballot election entry, while the other probably felt that this was his last best chance. Especially, in light of the fact that many of todays' voting baseball writers were either in diapers or kneepants while he played.

"]CONGRATS TO BOTH PLAYERS!

Now the Veterans' Committee will take another look at the many also-rans, and do what the Veterans' Committee usually do-----pretty much of nothing. This committee has come under harsh criticism lately, because its been pretty much of a do-nothing committee. That's why former deservingplayers linger for years, hoping--sometimes against hope--to get into the Hall. Maybe the VC will start doing its job, and more importantly, take its responsibility seriously!

Some other names to look at: Andre"The Hawk" Dawson: Lee Smith;Tim Raines; Bert Blyleven; Jack Morris;and Tommy John ( if for no other reason than the 'surgery's moniker').
