:confused::confused::confused::confused:

It's a bit too early to tell, but you should have a better idea in another two to three weeks. Usually, looking at a team's performance a month or so after the All-Star break gives you a better barometer on whether teams are real or not, since most games during this period are played solely against division foes. I'm not familiar with their schedule, but my guess is that there will be plenty games with Cincinnati and Milwaukee in the next month, and that will tell the story. I'm not sure if the Pirates have enough depth, and I've never really liked their lineup. But, I'm hoping they can make a legitimate run for the Central. I'd love to see them win it, and I'd love to see Andrew McCutchen in the postseason.

I know if they make the playoffs they will be trouble for the phillies because the phillies can't seem to beat them in a series home or on the road for anything.

like Rezn8 said, I'd wait until sometime next month to decide if they are real or not. I'm not gonna act like I've watch or followed them much this season but from what I've heard the pitching is good they just need to strengthen the line up.

They are only a 5 game losing streak or so from being .500 and sitting 3rd or 4th in that division. I'm happy for the Pirates fans that they aren't a complete joke as usualy but if you ask me, it's hard to right off the Reds, Brewers, or Cards just yet in that division.

If they play the phillies in the postseason, the phillies are more than likely gonna dish out a three man rotation of HALLADAY-LEE-HAMELS!!!!!.....so if they make the playoffs its a WRAP.

as a phillies fan i will say it seems like the phillies can put god on the mound for 3 games and still might lose to the pirates for some reason

Depends on what they do to improve their squad in the next 2 weeks. I don't think this team as constructed can make the playoffs.

After being the 'proverbial' doormat in the NL for almost one-half century, the Pirates time has come. But not to the lofty Penthouse, rather a +500 ballclub. Its known as 'KARMA' mixed with percentages.:hmm:

I hope not. I'm a big cardinals fan, since I live in saint louis. We missed the playoffs last year and we have sustained third place with many injuries to the team. Once the squad is healthy we could go on a streak.

Id say about as real as the Cubs would be if they were in 1st place right now. Other than McCutchen there is no one on that team really producing offensively, I guess Walker is doing alright but they need more out of Overbay and Cedano if they want to win any type of series.

They (Pirates) deserve a little more credit for their accomplishments. The Cubs? Please. The Pirates have something the Cubs haven't had for years. PITCHING! Good and effective pitching. However, they could definitely use more offense, and I think that Management recognizes the lack thereof. In fact I thought they would try to get Beltran. It could be a 'money' problem, or they might be on Beltran's "no-trade" list. But they will get help.

I guess Prior, Wood, Clement and Zambrano in 2003 wasn't good pitching. As much as I believe offense will get you through the season and pitching will win a world series you are not going to get me to believe that Correia, Karstens, Morton and Mholm are a better starting rotation than the 03 Cubs. I don't mean to bust your bubble but it ain't going to happen this year bruh, Milwaukee, St. Louis, and Cincy are not just going to lay down.
