Barney Frank calls for decriminalizing small amounts of marijuana

Rep. Barney Frank will soon introduce legislation to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana, the Massachusetts Democrat said during an appearance on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher."

Frank offered no details on his legislation, and it's not at all clear that he could ever get it to the House floor for a vote. A Frank aide was unaware of his plans other than his statement on HBO.

Frank has introduced legislation in previous years to allow the use of "medical marijuana," although the bills never made it out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Asked by Maher as to why he would push a pot decriminalization bill now, Frank said the American public has already decided that personal use of marijuana is not a problem.

"I now think it's time for the politicians to catch up to the public," Frank said. "The notion that you lock people up for smoking marijuana is pretty silly. I'm going to call it the 'Make Room for Serious Criminals' bill."

I don't agree with weed smoking, but I disagree more about the brothers who are in jail for smoking a little weed...

It would be about time!!!!....racists law now that it's affecting just as many Whites now as it was originally designed to affect Mexicans and Blacks now they wanna make it a misdemeanor.

Typical American Justice!:smh:

=
cigarettes should be illegal

I don't smoke, and I don't think other people should be smoking, but to assume it's criminal if someone wants to get high is ridiculous... Jail time for wanting to get high without doing anything wrong in your substance abused stupor... It's the same as alcohol to me although I do drink on occasion..

I don't agree with Alcohol and cigarettes either, but who should give a damn what I think, when these same people want to enjoy their personal vices.

I meant getting locked up and catching charges for it!:hmm::lol::lol::lol:

The anti weed laws started back in the 30's behind racists law makers in Louisiana trying to control the Mexican workers who where without jobs after the depression from diversifying and selling weed to survive.

Once weed was made illegal then the rest of the country and federal government adopted the concept!

....thus it's been war on blacks and browns who would smoke, sell or grow it to survive!....or just enjoy it!
