Bad news, Blu-ray fans: LG just discontinued its entire range of 4K Blu-ray players

Ha, you keep that shit clean!

I don’t want to be look unorganized and tacky if I’m collecting movies like this. Lol.

I haven't played a Blu-ray in years now. Pretty much got a UHD Blu-ray rip for every movie I want.
Physical media and its players are pretty much dead.

Can either of these apps/programs be downloaded onto a Sony A90-J Tv?

Honestly, I'm clearly out of my wheelhouse trying to configure something like this. However, I would like to setup my system to be able to watch movies from my server. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, Plex and Emby can be downloaded directly onto a TV but I would strongly recommend getting a separate device like a Roku, NVIDIA Shield, Apple TV, FireTV cube/stick, etc. especially if you're trying to play large size rips.

There are lots of places that stream in 4k. The problem is the compression.
Plenty of message boards out there that have UHD 4k movies uncompressed.
Each file can be upwards of 80+GB though but I have a home theater with a projector and 120" screen so its worth it to me.

People are going to love it when streaming companies decide what you watch, what episodes and scenes are censored, when movies are available ECT. Sure you have people who sail the seven seas and get what they want that way but it's a sad future if physical media is dying. Just look at gaming and the number of games that are unplayable or stranded on older consoles thanks to digital games.

Interesting... I'm thinking some form of SSD type of media would probably replace the compact disc...

The sony oleds have googleTV so you can install either plex or emby.

You just need to setup a Plex server and point it to where you have saved your video files.

@Big Tex

I wanted to follow-up and inform you that I followed the instructions in the link you provided and am up and running. Plex is currently reading and categorizing my video files. I will have to rename quite a number of files according to Plex's filename nomenclature. However, I will do that in stages.

Thanks again!

I'm glad! Enjoy.

4D - back in the late-2000s when I was doing the real estate search I was hitting up open houses every weekend. The best movie collection was in a townhome. The person or family had an entire wall with lots of shelving devoted to all their movies & TV box sets. It was like the ultimate movie lovers' dream. I just stood there in awe for a minute or two.

Realtor - "So, you wanna take a look around the place?"

Me - "Goddamn ... wowwww. Oh, yeah ... sure."
