The crack in this version may be detected as a virus by some virus scanners, including Avast itself. It is a false positive.

This crack will let you download updates until the year 2037 as you can see from the screenshots below.

Please follow the instructions EXACTLY.

Instructions:

1) Run Avast setup. Uncheck "Participate in the avast! community", then Install Avast as TRIAL! Do not reboot after installation.

2) In Settings - Troubleshooting uncheck "Enable avast! self-defense module"

3) Terminate avastsvc.exe and avastui.exe and afwserv.exe in the Task Manager (launch it with pressing CTRL - SHIFT - Esc - This will show all users running processes).

4) Replace the file (ashBase.dll) in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5 with the cracked file.

5) Reboot

6) Go to Settings > Troubleshooting and CHECK "Enable avast! self-defense module"

7) Go to Real-Time Shields > File System Shield and press the START button.

8) Go to Settings > Updates and under the PROGRAM section, check Manual update.

9) Done!

Here are some screenshots showing it successfully installed with the crack.

FAQs

Q. I cannot overwrite the ashBase.dll file. OR I cannot stop the AvastSVC.exe or AvastUI.exe processes in the Task Manager.

A. Boot your computer into Safe Mode and overwrite the file. Then boot back into normal mode. Done.

Q. I cannot see AvastSVC.exe or AvastUI.exe in the task manager.

A. Click the "Show processes from all users" button in the task manager.

Q. Why am I getting an "illegal" or "blacklisted" error in Avast?

A. Because you veered from the instructions. DO NOT APPLY ANY LICENSE FILES. Follow the instructions above, exactly!

Q. I'm having problems updating after installing the crack.

A. I've noticed, even with previous versions of Avast, that sometimes after installing and applying the patch, it takes a little while for it to properly update. Sometimes it takes a couple hours, sometimes a couple days, but eventually after the first update, all future updates will update properly and on-time. I would say give it a week, if it still hasn't updated for the first time, try uninstalling and re-installing.

did you virus scan this and make sure there are no backdoors?

That's the solution to Step 4 but I figured it out. Thanks.

Enjoy until they send that patch out like they did the Norton that was going around back in January or so.

i installed this when it was first posted and everything was sweet. i never tried to update it like the instructions said.

now, it's saying i need to activate because my trial period expired.

anybody else experiencing this?

Thanks is this better than Norton
Anything is better than Norton or McAfee at this point. Both those old ass antiviruses are shitty as fuck. Avast is easily the best shit on the market right now and has been for the 5 years that I have used it. I actually PAID for Avast Pro finally because the FREE version was so damn good. Does that answer your question?

I am so skeptical about things like this, because if a company can not detect you are using a cracked version of the system, how good are they going to be in detecting viruses?

Because the cracked (modified) file that is reported to the company is detected as a genuine serial/registration. The companies do there best to block it, hence why cracked files, keygens, patches, etc... come up as a virus. I'll post a app with a crack, and a member on the board will say "my anti virus found a trojan/virus". This is a false positive, these types of files and the way they are written have been deemed by the a/v, companies as a virus. This is why when you normally need to run a patch or carck, you have to first disable your a/v then re enable it once you have applied the crack/patch.

Isn't that what essentially viruses do to your registry?

Isn't that what essentially viruses do to your registry?

Viruses do a multitude of things depending on it's function and how it it written. There are tracking trojans, that report you privacy information. Viruses that embed themselves into your explorer.exe this is the most common, most users will boot up there PC and the desktop is locked with no icons, nothing just a blank desktop. Most viruses don't attack the registry, they embed themselves in your Windows folder as exe/ddl files, to mostly include your System32 folder and Application Data folder, but not always. Most computers I work on I can manually find the virus by looking in the "normal" spots and deleting those files and then finish it off by running a scan.

I've seen some viruses that attack the registry stings also.

Yup, there are a few. But in most instances they attach themselves in your working folders and open up with other apps and processes.

Viruses - A virus is a small piece of software that piggybacks on real programs. For example, a virus might attach itself to a program such as a spreadsheet program. Each time the spreadsheet program runs, the virus runs, too, and it has the chance to reproduce (by attaching to other programs) or wreak havoc.

E-mail viruses - An e-mail virus travels as an attachment to e-mail messages, and usually replicates itself by automatically mailing itself to dozens of people in the victim's e-mail address book. Some e-mail viruses don't even require a double-click -- they launch when you view the infected message in the preview pane of your e-mail software.

Trojan horses - A Trojan horse is simply a computer program. The program claims to do one thing (it may claim to be a game) but instead does damage when you run it (it may erase your hard disk). Trojan horses have no way to replicate automatically.
Why most cracks and patches are alarmed as Trojans

Worms - A worm is a small piece of software that uses computer networks and security holes to replicate itself. A copy of the worm scans the network for another machine that has a specific security hole. It copies itself to the new machine using the security hole, and then starts replicating from there, as well.

uninstalled and reinstalled and everything seems to be running ok so far.

still wondering what happened after over 4 months of flawless performance tho. :dunno:

This shit is so frustrating, I tried copying the ashbase.dll file but it's asking for Admin rights. I went to properties and changed the access to full control but no dice ...any advice?
