Based on the first 10 months of availability, the troubled PlayStation 3 sold 22 percent less than the Nintendo GameCube for the same period.

According to the NPD, a firm that tracks North American hardware sales, the PS3 sold 1,742,000 units in its first 10 months of availability compared with 2,120,000 GameCube units.

The GameCube, released by Nintendo in 2001 to compete with Sony's PS2 and Microsoft's original Xbox, is largely seen as a failure. Although commercially successfully (to a degree), the GameCube only managed to sell 22 million systems worldwide compared with 24 million Xbox units and 115 million PS2 machines.

"We're in a position where we're having to play catch-up," PlayStation president Kaz Hirai recently said in an interview with Spong regarding the struggling PS3. Hirai went on to blame "production issues" for his console's slow start before denying widespread belief that the PS3 launch price was too high.

Whats going to be funny is when we look back at all the haters when MGS 4 and the many other "AAA titles hit.

I talked to an X-Box friend of mine who also has a PS3 and he said it was the same experience he had on the 360 in the beginning. He said he played Perfect dark to death til the wares came.

Why the 360 folk are so hateful I don't know. I don't sit around thinking about them. Im enjoying my PS3. Thats all that matters to me.

By the way. A friend of mine who is in the Home beta gives us a sneak peak to HOME.

Prolly will sell less cuz of dem ridiculous prices, I mean it's fun n all but I cud buy a few pair of J's wit dat money!:cool:

Man have you heard some of the shit sony defense force talks??? there are no saints on either side :smh:

Sony has a problem the system isn't selling well because of the cost and games do you take a bigger L on the price and hope for the best or dump all the games out now when not many systems are out.

Seeing the way they run their business i swear to God i think they got lucky two times in a row and they don't know what the hell they are doing.

I don't believe in blind fanboyism period. Thats why I don't even go over to the Sony defense force site.

I enjoy gaming. And yes I admit things are slow for the PS3 at the moment. But I've seen the potential and I think its going to do well. I'm playing a lot and don't feel that I need to insult other platforms to feel good about my purchase. Everybody keeps forgeting that there are like 120 million PS2 sold worldwide. PS2 games still outsells every other platform. There are more than enough potential buyers to sustain the PS3. And every developer knows it. If you could see how well Lair runs via Remote play, it would blow your mind. I have the game and tried it out on my home LAN, and it was really good. The level Sony is about to take things is going to surprise folks.

For example check out "Eye of Judgement" which should be out in October

And don't start hating on the concept, because if they had done this on the 360 yah'll be saying its the greatest thing since sliced bread. Another good title coming is Rachet and Clank. Also just played the "Jerico" Demo for the PS3 and it looks like its going to be an awesome game. Things aren't as bad as they are making it out to be.

Anyway enjoy gaming on what ever platform you're on. I'm off to play some Warhawk.

man if i had a ps3 i'd be all over this

i've been following the trailers and interviews and i'm pretty impressed

it opens a lot of options to future ccg



i believe ps3 will be fine

but with all the wii and 360 analyst this article was worth posting

i probably wont be getting one till close to the end of the year or maybe early 2008

then again, i may sit at home or work after a price drop and get one of those impulsive moments

just rearranged my tv stand and room, there is a nice sweet spot for the ps3 to sit between the 360 and the wii
