At Age 80, George Clinton Announces His Un-Retirement – and a Verzuz Episode
George Clinton started a farewell tour with P-Funk in 2019, but he’s changed his mind

In 2019, George Clinton embarked upon what was supposed to be a farewell tour with Parliament-Funkadelic, but when he recently sat down for a new episode of The Rolling Stone Interview, he made it clear he’s changed his mind. “I’m gonna pull back from that,” says Clinton, who celebrated his 80th birthday on July 22nd. “I feel good, you know. Got all my bloodwork done with the doctors and all that. I ain’t got no problem. No meds… It’s hello again. You’re gonna have to drag me off.”

In fact, he wouldn’t mind if he actually ended up dying on stage. I feel good as hell right now,” he says. “So if I go out on stage, yeah, cool. ‘You went out funking.’ “

Meanwhile, Clinton says a Verzuz episode is in the works for August, starring himself and his current touring version of Parliament-Funkadelic, as well as hip-hop artists who’ve sampled his work over the years. :eek2:A Verzuz spokesperson didn’t immediately reply to requests for comment.)

Clinton also says he has two P-Funk albums on the way: a trap-influenced studio album called Reaching For Litness, plus a live release. And despite being colorblind, he’s taken up a new career as a painter. “I don’t know what the hell I’m doing,” he says. “And everyone seems to like it. It reminded me of when we actually started going into funk music as opposed to doo-wop, we was ad-libbing and jamming and grooving, and it became our thing Funk became our calling.”

When this all you know...that life of playing with grand kids/great grand kids, doing yard work, watching tv, etc. isnt for everyone. When you've been entertaining others for most of your life, thats all that you know, that makes you happy. A lot of artist would rather die on stage than die in their rocking chair.

George Clinton is a descendant of chattel slavery in the state of North Carolina. He helped cultivate a musical genre that has influenced the world. Looking forward to this Verzuz.

I didn't know he was still alive.
Went to a Mav game about 2 years ago and saw him performing....he looked like Rick Ross he had the bald head and big beard.....

But yeah I knew he was still out here the Q's made him a honorary member this year if I'm not mistaken.

I like how you bring in others back you up. You cat ladies are weird.

Just me acknowledging his heritage got you pissed. :lol:It's gotta fuck you up to know you play your bass emulating the music of a "yank" like George and his crew. What do you do? Tell your self he's West Indian to feel better? :roflmao2: Your entire music career is a rip off of Black American music, have some respect for the architects you look up to and emulate studio gangster.

Good for George man...made it to 80, said all his bloodwork is good.

A few months ago I ran into some Parliament shit from the 60's.....tripped me out....

That's a long time in the game....crazy how they started from this and then created that innovative P Funk sound...

It's amazing how his health has stood up all this time, considering that old George has experimented with every drug under the sun!!!

lol he has too cause he doesn't own the rights to none of that music he made with parlament and he didn't even pay the members their fair share of royalties on nothing.....

He comes out looking like a pimp by himself doing all his old hits cause he has too

Yeah, he came into the game when it was either White people or Barry Gordy stealing from you and your talents in the game. You didn't own anything that your mind created

How can they hold the masters to his thoughts.

It's fucked up that we need white people for anything as it relates to our creativity. Jerry Heller didn't write one damn lyric for NWA

HIs manager tricked him out of the rights to most of those songs by getting him to sign over the rights while he high on coke.
I bet those cacs were pushing rappers to sample his songs since they knew a white dude was getting paid off of it.

I'm excited about a George Clinton versuz. People will have a chance to hear the music that has been sampled throughout hiphop for decades. NJ legend
George versus the world. The world never stood a chance. Then again if the world has remnants of George in it then it's all love.

Oh the irony of this post after the bullshit you saying in the other. Mofos love to shit on the lineage but stay jocking and dick riding our artists like the whites.
